ESPN Hashmarks: NFL head coaches prefer Chad Johnson over T.O.

And I'm sure TO was holding back ALOT after the loss to Seattle where we just forgot about his 15 touchdowns and let the shutdown corner Pete Hunter guard him all night after selling diapers or groceries. Whatever the hell he was doing. Didn't bash anyone after the game even though he easily couldv'e. Bottom line if you want to win a Super Bowl and you are willing to give your best weapon the football you want Terrell Owens on your team. I would love to see the list of the 14 teams that wouldn't have TO on their squad. Probrably a bunch of Texans and Cardinal types.

I think TO pretty much scarred the entire league for life after what he did to Philly. While he has been pretty humble the last couple years, it doesn't seem like anyone outside of Dallas will ever forget the whole story.

Basically its older more mature T.O. versus a younger immature Johnson who is very similiar to the young Owens.
I guess another way of phrasing the question would be...Do you want the young or the older T.O. ?
The answer would seem rather apparent to the logical.

How short most people's memories are around here.

Not that long ago, many Cowboys fans were laughing at the Eagles for taking on that locker room cancer, Terrell Owens. Now that we have him and he hasn't caused many problems here so everyone thinks that everything he has done in the past never happened.

He was a major locker room cancer with his previous two teams and has been a source of constant media focus during his time here. If he sneezes and doesn't cover his mouth it becomes front page news. Most head coaches don't want that kind of attention on one player regardless of how talented he is, that's why so many teams passed on him when he was a FA.

Owens is not a criminal but he has been a HUGE distration everywhere he has been. Jerry Jones has made him happy with his contract and Tony Romo has made him happy by throwing him the ball a lot but when things don't go his way, and at some point they won't, he will revert to his usual pouting self and cause problems again. That's who he is.

I don't blame any head coach for not wanting him. He has a working situation in Dallas but that wouldn't likely be the case with most teams. Ask Parcells if he would want him in Miami.
Oh no you did-ent!

Excellent post.

Keep waiting for that meltdown...

Or has the "I told you so" syndrome got you too? :D

I didn't want Parcells here, FWIW. All we got out of it was an increase in talent; the rest of that legacy has been :bang2:

T.O. was a punk for over a decade. One year of change doesnt make coaches forget all the b.s. he's done over his career.

Thats not entirely true. MANY people and even ANALYSTS NOW KNOW that McNabb and Reid and Philly front office had their part in that ordeal.

TO hasnt changed that much. He still wants what he wants. Its just a good fit in Dallas. Philly could have made it work... but they didnt.

I think Owens and Jones (and Phillips) should be applauded for making the situation work. Owens has clearly learned better judgment in the comments he makes, while Jones and Phillips have shown him the "love" and respect he craves.

Other head coaches not wanting him only shows how well the situation has been handled here. They obviously don't believe they could do as well with him.

You have some links to articles about this? I honestly doubt that any sane coach or QB would voluntarily want to run a guy out of town who had the season that TO did. Now if the dude is bad mouthing you and bashing your team and his contract in public (which I can provide plenty of links to if u need), than maybe "McNabb and Reid and the Philly front office" started to develop a role in the matter, but to think that TO wasn't the catalyst is just plain ignorance. I honestly doubt you'd be defending his Philly ordeal for one second if he played for another team right now though. That's fine with me because I love our players too, it just doesn't erase the past.

I think Williamson is a little misleading here.

It really wasn't a T.O. vs Chad question to begin with.

I would rather the question have been this..

"One game, you need a #1 WR. You have two choices, T.O. or Chad, who is it going to be?"

Might get some different answers. T.O. may still lose but the margin may be a lot closer.

Of course the coach or quarterback didn't want to run TO out of town. He was the main reason they ran thru the NFC to the top seed and had the swagger that they had. Not to mention he was getting paid less than a top 10 reciever at the time. AND he plays hurt in the biggest game of our season? OH MAN the Eagles had a great bargain if you ask me. If i was Reid i wouldn't want to run a guy like that out of town either. Now if TO had a career threatning injury during the Super Bowl you better believe they would rip that contract up and "run him out of town". But i guess thats just good business. Now i truly see why players like Roy Williams could give a rats a** what fans think. I really do.

Why would Parcells want TO on a team going nowhere fast? Any reciever with balls would hate that situation not just TO...........................

Is TO wrong for wanting to be paid market value for his services and wanting the ball? Yes or No..............................Would Dallas have won 13 games if we didn't give TO the ball? Yes or No?.........................So basically since you claim TO isn't always going to get the ball from Romo and he will revert to his old self I'm saying the Cowboys will revert to their old ways also. 5-11 should ring a bell
As they say in the deep south, "can I get an Amen"

IMO, TO is a threat to go to the house every time he touches the ball. Chad Isn't.

Deion was a threat to intercept the ball and take it to the house every time you threw it in his direction, I'll take that guy too.

While TO was the catalyst.... he did have help. THAT has been documented and discussed many times.

No I am not going to look for articles or posts for you. I will give you a tidbit though(throw you a bone ;). If TO says that McNabb told him "I am not going to throw you the ball because I have to spread it out to my other receivers" THEN I BELIEVE TO... if nothing else he is honest.

If you want you can start a thread and MANY will discuss BOTH sides of the TO ordeal in Philly.

If you would like to just see one side that is your decision. In life there are usually 3 sides to every story. In this case you have TO's side and Philly's side and then the REAL story.

If you need further help in going about finding information about the above let me know... but I aint going to search the dumpster. While I am pro TO, I am also consistent in looking for and reading all sides of the story.
