The twitter universe seems to indicate that it could go down as soon as today, he and his coaches were called back from the recruiting trail yesterday evening. It sounds like Kevin Sumlin, Kirby Smart and Larry Fedora are the guys A&M is going to be contacting first.

If this does in fact go down, both Sumlin and Smart would be outstanding hires IMO. Smart especially as he knows the SEC and how to win there.

I was wondering if that UT loss was going to be a nail in the coffin on top of the team under performing and not showing up in the 2nd half

Great move. They can't go any further with that guy. I'm a Larry Fedora fan, I think he is due for a move to a big conference

Dumb move, they have a good recruiting class that will suffer...of course that's redundant since they chose A&M;):D

This is going to hurt though according to reports:

"Sherman has four years remaining on a contract that pays him $2.2 million per year. The Aggies are entering the Southeastern Conference starting next season, and Sherman has been hesitant (at least publicly) to really embrace the move. It didn’t help that 6-6 A&M lost its last scheduled game against rival Texas a week ago at Kyle Field in blowing its fifth halftime lead – a loss a lot of Aggies can’t seem to shake because of its significance."

They bleed out millions for every coach they fire, Franchione part Deux.

I never get tired of reading things like this. So happy we won that game. I had been so heartbroken from the Rangers blowing the World Series but winning this game reminded me of what is important: putting the Ags in their place and scoreboard for life. :D

I never get tired of reading things like this. It reminds me how truly pathetic UT fans are.

I don't like firing a coach every four years, but I trust Byrne to do what is best for the athletics department.

The buyout isnt an issue. Last week a group of big money Aggie grads made the athletic department aware that it would be taken care of. The issue right now is making sure the AD has the guy they want before firing Sherman. If they could land Smart or Sumlin it would be an absolute homerun.

Well they HAVE to fire him now, they've undermined his credibility with recruits.

According to the Houston Chronicle Sumlin ain't interested, if he were to leave U of H it would be with better options.

Mike Leach would've been a shrewd move, but alas.

I bet their eyes are honed in on Southern Mississippi right now.

It's official, Sherman go bye bye, according to Austin American-Statesman, he'll be fired officially by tomorrow morning.

Quite a poor time to fire a coach, loads of vacancies to be filled, including some coveted programs.

Here's the complete list of coaching vacancies.

Akron
Arizona State
FAU
Colorado State
Illinois
Kansas
Memphis
Massachusetts
Mississippi
North Carolina
Penn State
Tulane
UAB
UCLA
Texas A&M

I'm not sure what your point is, A&M is clearly the second best job on that list and the Penn State position is tainted as hell right now.

Meaning if Art Briles wins the next two games he'll have a better record with his "sea of crap" as Aggies here called it, in the same time frame than Sherman did with supposedly amazing recruiting classes.:D :p: ;) :)

In your homer eyes only, fact is there is plenty of competition and will be slim pickens for a quality replacement if they wait too long. Already lost the opportunity for leach.

And PS UCLA is a far more prestigious gig than A&M.

And yet Baylor went 1-3 against him with loses by 35 and 27 points.

But, but, but you're supposedly superior? Why would you feel the need to brag about beating a private school that you claim means nothing?

How many top five teams did Sherman beat? How many times did he beat Texas? What was the series finale record with that supposed "rival"? What is A&M ranked at present after being hailed as national Championship timber?
How many savior coaches fired in the last decade now?

25-25, like i've always said, mediocrity that crows like it wears a crown.
