Is there going to be a Adam "Pacman" Jones sequel in Dallas? According to a published report, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently said he's considering bringing the controversial cornerback back, although he calls it a long shot.

Reached by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after the George Strait concert than opened the new Cowboys stadium on Saturday night, Jones asked the reporter: "Would you beat me up too bad if I brought back Adam?"

The Cowboys released Pacman Jones in February. Jones was suspended for six games by the NFL after an alcohol-related scuffle in October with a team-provided bodyguard at a Dallas hotel.

In the Star-Telegram report, Jones said he now blames the fight on the bodyguard. He also reportedly said that he's not worried about any off-the-field issues with Pacman Jones.

The cornerback came to Dallas after being suspended for the entire 2007 season following multiple off-field incidents while with the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys acquired him in a trade during the draft in April, and commissioner Roger Goodell cleared him to play at the end of the preseason.

Expected to give the Cowboys a boost on defense and special teams, Jones had 31 tackles and no interceptions in his nine games (six starts). He averaged only 4.5 yards on his 21 punt returns, with a long of 18 yards.

However, in the Star-Telegram report, Jones said that Pacman Jones graded out as the Cowboys' best cornerback.

Before coming to Dallas, Jones was arrested six times and involved in 12 instances requiring police intervention after Tennessee drafted him in the first round in 2005.

The Cowboys traded for him anyway, despite the 2007 suspension.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

That's a pretty sad indictment on the Cowboys secondary that they would even consider bringing back this thug. But according to the Cowboys coaching staff he did grade out as your best CB from last year, which is a sad indictment of its own.

What?

I wonder what the reporter asked Jerry to get that kind of response from him... This seems a nonstory.

Honestly, Jones really didn't get into much while he was here, he got into it with the body guard, okay, but he certainly wasn't the misfit he was before coming here.

I wouldnt' have a problem with Jerry bringing him back, of course with heavy incentives.

Pacman was accepted in the locker room by his teammates. That's all that worries me other than the propensity of getting into trouble.

And have you heard of Adam Jones name lately. He's not gotten into trouble in quite awhile although that borders on being an oxymoron; kinda.

As far as talent goes, he has it in spades. His quickness, acceleration, and agility is a tier above, at least, anyone on the Cowboys and possibly the league.

His problem is he is undisciplined. His technique can overwhelm even his talent. He is so anxious to prove himself he overreacts and overcommits on plays resulting in failure. But his athletic talent is only a tier below Deion's. He's 2-3 tiers below Deion's effective talent, however. With the right coaching, he could be a shut down corner in a league where there are few if any shut down corners.

The real question is this. Will he be disruptive to the club? I doubt it. Then will he be a distraction? My guess is some to a lot. I don't think he interviews well enough to allow the club to let him open his mouth.

So his 'successful' return just depends.

BTW, talk about Jones using a feeler for a poll!

PS: I don't advocate his return or not.

He got in to a fight with a Joe on Pros vs Joes but other than that nothing but then again he's not a Cowboy. :laugh2:

If we were going to keep a veteran CB on the team then I'd much rather have Henry than Jones. I hope this is a bad joke and does not happen.

Get ready for Matt Jones in training camp. All you who said Jerry turned over a new leaf, not really. Pac makes Matt look like an alter boy, Maybe someday Jerry will realize he aint running Boys Town.

I didn't even take the time to listen/watch/read about that one. Any police involved? Any different from a fight on the football field?

I think this is not a trivial subject. It's awfully hard to discard a player with that much talent. Even now. Especially as cheap as he comes.
