J Williams will be ILB, V Butler will be OLB.

With B Williams, said a lot of teams were scared off by his 40 time, but the Cowboys really worked him out, and they said he did very, very well - esp in space.

He stressed how they could also help on STs while they learn their positions on Defense.

I caught most of it... Said Jason Williams is very fast and explosive, quick-twitch, lots of fumbles forced, will be our MO linebacker. Said we liked Jason Phillips if we hadn't gotten lucky enough to get him, but we did.

Butler I missed some of, but Herring said he was a very productive pass rusher and I think Bluefin said he played with a high ankle sprain all year.

Brandon Williams IMO he sounded most excited about. Said he ran a terrible 40 time, but when they worked him out in drills he was extremely good in his drops and in all his space drills. Said he was quick and fluid and just moved very well.

BTW, Butler is on right now with Norm and he didn't even see the draft because he was working out. Said he figured the other prospects wouldn't be working out then, so he'd get a jump on them.

LB coach Reggie Hering says...

Always trying to improve in the draft.

We got three very athletic, versatile players who can help on specials and defense.

They all are flexible and ideal for what we need in the 3-4 and possess great upside.

Jason Williams is a Mo (inside).

Vic Butler has great intangibles, team captain who played with a high ankle sprain all season. He can play Sam or Will.

Ditto for Brandon Williams.

We knew he could rush passer, didn't know how he could drop until we brought him in late for LB drills. Very athletic and explosive, we benefited from him having a poor combine.

Jason Phillips was a fourth round consideration, he was a target guy if someone grabbed Jason Williams in the third before we could.

Why would he announce what they're doing? Won't other teams looking at backs jump ahead now?

A few options here are Joe Burnett UCF, Brice McCain Utah, Tony Carter FSU, and Domonique Johnson Jackson St. I hope it is Burnett. Seems to be the best value available and a good character guy that can play special teams.

just because Leon Lett played like a first rounder it doesnt mean anybody was going to pick him higher than the 7th round in 1991. we reached on all our picks today.
