ESPN MacMahon: Jones hasn't decided whether to cut Folk

Possibly but it would probably be wiser to find someone whos played in the last 5 years or so.

lol I meant to be our kickers coach again.

We can just cut Folk. We don't have to worry about a bunch of teams coming along and scooping him up. He has zero value at this point in the season.

Next year, he'll get a shot to resign with a team. We should try him out at that point.

Just because you've heard of Elam and Suisham doesn't mean they're the only guys available. I'm sure there is even a no name out there who can hit a chip shot field goal. Like I said, get one of the guys that kicked in the UFL. They've been in active competition, there shouldn't be any rust. If they were kicking well in that league that means their mechanics are down and they have the hot hand ... that's all that matters when it comes to kicking.

exactly, surely Coach D has some other prospects in mind. I think Elam is done and Suisham is struggling just like Folk is.

serious question.....has there ever been a kicker recover from such a slump?

I don't know, but either his mechanics are COMPLETELY out of whack ( mostly as a result for over compensating for his injury ) or he's just a mental disaster, when it comes to kicking.

Does anybody know if Steve Hoffman is coaching anywhere ? I'd love to have his input on this situation.

18/21 is pretty darn good by NFL standards. Suisham just picked a bad spot to miss two of them.

Keep him on.............it puts pressure on the Off and Def. to step up and take care of things with a seemed sense of urgency

Wonder if someone can post the gif.s of his make and his miss last nite....

Is Folk married? Someone needs to make sure she does her marital duty and ensures that if he doesn't score on the field he won't at home either.

Jason Elam should be signed before breakfast

Elam was cut because he was worse than Folk was. He was only 12/19 and had missed 4 FG's between 30-39yds, most of them bad shanks or hooks.

Be careful what you wish for.

Yep - anyone who saw those pre-game kicks knows he has to go. It was BRUTAL to watch.

That was really sad.

I cant ever remember a kid that was such a great kicking prospect and doing what he did for the first two seasons falling so far so fast.

I am available and will be happy to play for the minimum. I know I can still hit from 25 yards.

His mechanics suck. Body lean, poor foot placement etc. He is a mess right now.

I admit, I know absolutely nothing about kicking and the mechanics of kicking, so this is interest to hear.

Yeah, I wonder how much of it was started to compensate for the hip surgery, because he was absolutely drilling everything before this yr.

Thats why I hate to let him go completely, because once his hip is 100% he will probably work out whatever is wrong mechanically, and he'll return to being one of the better kickers. Wish we could IR him, but that probably isnt an option unless they can make up some injury.

His lead/plant foot appears too close to the ball and he is overcompensating by leaning away. The direction of the plant foot is also critical. Point the toes of the plant foot left or right and that is the direction the ball will go.

Just my take being an ex-kicker.
