ESPN MacMahon: Jones hasn't decided whether to cut Folk

This sucks too because I REALLY like Nick Folk. He used to be so automatic.

Sucks needing a kicker again. Maybe he just needs someone to help him with his mechanics...

He did not look right at all on those pre-game kicks...not just the missing, but his mechanics looked horrid.

Why not let Buehler finish the job as kicker this season?

The coaches said that Buehler was 1 out of 4 in practice and all kicks were under 35 yards.

Apparently he sucks also. I go with Suisham, I know he missed that chip shot against the Saints but he was doing pretty decent until then.

Id love to have Elam here.
Ew.

No you wouldn't.

Fun fact: In every Atlanta game that he attempted 2 FG's or more, he missed at least once.

Yep - anyone who saw those pre-game kicks knows he has to go. It was BRUTAL to watch.

I also like Folk, but do you want him going 0-3 to knock us out of a playoff game. I hope they pull in 3 or 4 players this week and have some competition for the job. I hope Folk can be put on IR, but who is going to pick him up now anyway. Just sign him as soon as possible after the season is over to a min. contact and let him compete next year again.

Suisham would be an upgrade over Folk right now.

Leigh Tiffin in the 5th/6th round next year - what do you think?

The thing that was crazy about his kicks last nite before
the game is they were indoors and they looked like they were
up in Philly with 25 mph wind gusts. This guy is all screwed up.

We can just cut Folk. We don't have to worry about a bunch of teams coming along and scooping him up. He has zero value at this point in the season.

Next year, he'll get a shot to resign with a team. We should try him out at that point.

I have no issue with Dallas looking to someone else but before outright releasing Folk I would bring in some kickers and have them try out. If I'm going to cut Folk then I want to make sure I'm replacing him with someone better not just someone who is different.

The only reason anyone would want to keep Folk is because the other players bailed him out and people feel good after the win and willing to let bygones be bygones. If Saints score on that last drive Folk isn't allowed on the plane home. We're lucky he didn't cost us our season tonight. We probably won't be as lucky in the next two weeks. It shouldnt take flushing your season down the toilet to do what needs to be done. The only thing worse than cutting Folk too early is cutting Folk too late. It would be one thing is Folk brought other assets to the table and was an exceptional kick off guy or something, but he doesn't even do that. He only has one job, and he sucks at that job.

Just because you've heard of Elam and Suisham doesn't mean they're the only guys available. I'm sure there is even a no name out there who can hit a chip shot field goal. Like I said, get one of the guys that kicked in the UFL. They've been in active competition, there shouldn't be any rust. If they were kicking well in that league that means their mechanics are down and they have the hot hand ... that's all that matters when it comes to kicking.

Agree. How quickly everyone forgots about the Roy williams drop after Folk missed the kick. The game never even gets that close if Williams catches that third down pass that hit him in the hands. I guess he gets a bye on this one, thanks to Folk.

The offseason surgery must have really impacted him,too bad. The Cowboys had kicker problems for several years now its back. Folk made this decision for the G.M.

Do you think they can bring back Cunningham to work with DeCamilas? Would they be able to work together?

He needs something, and maybe a swift kick in the *** isn't enough...

serious question.....has there ever been a kicker recover from such a slump?

Here's an even MORE serious question, Dadymat.

Where can I get a full screen version of that picture? Holy Schnitzle, that's hot.

Did you see him warming up LIVE or just form the edited clips on the broadcast? It looked pathetic on TV but I assumed that was just the "worst of the worst" of his warm-ups.

It's obvious. When going for 4th and three has a better percentage than kicking a 20 yard field goal.

He's got to go .

...pregame warm up was telling. I wouldn't touch this issue with a ten foot pole.
