This is a very interesting dilemma.

He has Jenkins still on the board at 22 and has Rodgers-Cromartie lasting until 30.

Most folks on this board think both will be gone by 22.

I'm really not enamored by Felix Jones, at least not in round 1.

Based on how his mock plays out, i'd probably be tempted to take both Jenkins and Rodgers-Cromartie.

Thoughts?

I like DRC at 22. I don't think that the top 4-5 five corners will all be gone by 22 like many people have been suggesting. Jenkins at 22 is a steal too.

DRC at 28 would be a coup.

I'm no longer on the Felix Jones bandwagon, unless its in round 2-3.

Yeah we'd be CRAZY not to take both, you are correct!
He has Jeff otah going 15th overall, otah's stock is REALLY DOWN, possibly even out of round 1, BUT the GOOD NEWS is that I was trying my hardest to find a player picked by a team that I would be like, NO WAY, that player would NEVER go to that team but I just couldn't find one other than Otah, which means it's possible ONE could fall to us, BOTH is highly unlikely in this pass happy league and both guys running sub 4.4's.

When you 1st said that BOTH would be available, I thought for SURE i'd find a ton of bad picks and reaches by teams, but honestly, like I said above, I really didnt' see any picks that didnt' make sense by the teams that picked them, we can only PRAY that one falls to us, I think if EITHER is still there at #18 we should trade up 3 or 4 spots just to ensure we get one, unless of course both are there, then wait till one goes off the board and then trade up only 1 or 2 spots!
Only pick I really question is the Saints need a C.B. BADLY and I think they'll take Jenkins!

You're so excitable man. :laugh2:

I like DRC at 22 too, I'd love it if by some freak occurance, McKelvin was still there at 22, I'd honestly rather have him.

I was listening to some sports podcast where they were discussing DRC and they said sure the kid has all the tools, and all the measureables to be a shut down corner. The question now is why wasn't he in college? That he gave up passes and TD's, and before his post season was considered maybe a 3rd round talent.

You sort of got to wonder how much of his rising stock is due to the "Cromartie" in his name and his measureables.

I still like the kid, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think that there are better CB's in this draft.

It may not be sexy but it might be the best thing for this team long term. With Henry and Newman both over thirty, it might be the most financially responsible thing to do. You can't really argue that its not BPA either, Jenkins and DRC would be a haul in round 1. I think Hardy wouldn't be a bad pick either.

I just don't see the excitement over Jones....he seems a little overrated top me.
I would prefer DRC over Jenkins to be perfectly honest, but either one suits me just fine...in fact I would be ecstatic....but somehow I cannot imagine any scenario where both are available when we pick.

True, you have to look at it like Henry after this year (last year of contract I think) Henry should be gone or converted to F.S., so if we took BOTH corners in round 1, highly unlikely, but I would do it because one would be our 3rd C.B. this year, which would make a huge improvement to Reeves from last year and take over for Henry as the starter next year while the other corner would be the 4th corner this year and be our 3rd corner if Henry or Newman get hurt for a game since last year it seemed we never played a game with both healthy all year, so then our 4th corner would become our 3rd corner and we wouldn't miss a beat.
THEN say Cromartie or Jenkins battle it out for the starting spot opposite Newman, whoever wins out, the other becomes our 3rd C.B. for the next few years of Newmans contract then eventually takes over for Newman giving us 5 years of the best triplet C.B.'s.
BUT the reason I think that wouldn't make sense is because you'd basically have one of oyur 1st round picks be your 4th C.B. this year, which you normally want your 1st round pick to contribute a lot.
Secondly, with Newman on one side and our top pick on the opposite corner spot from Newman the year after, we'd have ONE of our 1st round picks being a 3rd C>B. for 5 years, you don't wanna use a 1st round pick to be a 3rd corner for 5 years, do ya?

I think we should take DRC or Jenkins with our top pick if by some miracle he's there, I used to like McKelvin the bet, but he doenst' come down with many picks and scouts say he doesn't have the ball skills or the hands (forgot which one, or maybe both) to come away with the INT's where as Cromartie is a ball hawk who can get you the INT's.
But we should take DRC or Jenkins with our top pick, UNLESS Malcolm Kelly is available, then go W.R. with our other pick, and we can use our 2nd rounder on a guy like Charles Godfrey or a 3rd rounder on a guy like Justin King to give us a good 4th C>B. this year who'd be our 3rd for the future.
