If Peters or Johnson are there @27 and none of the "pass rushers" are, as most predict, I am all for it. Reaching for a pass rusher at 27 does nothing for us except waste another pick on someone who won't make a difference. We need difference makers in the secondary just as bad as we do on the defensive line. The difference is, we actually have some young guys with real talent who could come on at DL. We have nothing at CB.

Would rather trade down than grab a CB

And get what? If we trade down it means none of the premier pass rushers are there. Why not go after a difference maker, a potential stud CB instead of hoping someone slips to your spot when you trade back?

That just stupid.

And get what? ... Oh let's see... get more pics on defense?

I don't really need to explain the logic in getting extra 2nd/3rd rounders here do I?

You need to explain the logic of hoping a difference maker on defense drops to later pics when perhaps the best DB in the draft falls into your lap.

We don't just need bodies on defense. We have those. We need talent.

You can get quality starters in the first 4 rounds if drafting well. Hitchens has proved this.

For example, if we have the option of grabbing a CB in round 1 OR picking up an early round 2 and additional late 3rd I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Guys like Dawson at LB , and Flowers/Orchard/Bennett can still be there in the 2nd/3rd. We've been drafting well lately.

But why take a chance when a difference maker, who is possibly the best player at his position in the draft, falls to us? I know how trading down works and at times it has been a good thing for us, but sometimes you have to pull the trigger when the talent is there at a premium position.

let's see what the team needs first...I am all for the BPA approach and hope they can continue to do that...but if Murray signs elsewhere, that is a pretty big hole to fill assuming the rest of the chaff on the team starts to produce...I am not saying that they must use #27 on a RB, but Murray was a difference maker for this team...I hope they can sign him, and then the draft can truly be BPA...

I have a feeling we might be entering the draft this year with next to no holes. It wasn't too long ago that PFF said we are 0 players away from a Super Bowl run (of course they also said that Romo wasn't elite... so... yea...), I think we need to get a DE, but FA is packed with them this year, and I think probably 7 guys are better than anything we could get in the draft, and 3 or 4 more have the potential to be. If we get one of them, we go BPA at position of need in the draft, and I would put CORNERBACKS near the top of positions of need because Mo has 1 year left (and hasn't been that good) and free agency doesn't have the selection of CBs that DE does this year.
