ESPN Mock Draft

I just saw Calvin Watkins on ESPN, & he picked for the Cowboys in their mock draft. With OTs Mike Iupati, Charles Brown, & Vladimir Ducasse still on the board, as well as free safety Nate Allen, Watkins picked safety Morgan Burnett as the Cowboy's 27th pick in the draft!

Watkins justified picking a safety over an OT because of JJ's supposed statement that he was confident that Doug Free was our LT of the future. I say supposed because I've been kind of out of the loop on Cowboys' news lately.

Wow, what a reach! Todd McShay said it was the first irresponsible pick in the mock. Personally, I agree with DWare when he said that we needed to bring Flo back. After Free's matador-like play against Jared Allen in the playoffs, I have zero confidence in his ability to play the blind side. Even if we did bring Flo back, though, dude is old! We HAVE to draft an OL in the first round, since we have the oldest line in the NFL. Preferably an LT, since it's the 2nd most important position on the offense. Everyone seems to recognize that fact except the owner of the team.

Even if we go ahead & draft a safety, Nate Allen is head & shoulders above Burnett. He's the leader we've missed in coverage, and plays the run well too. Sure, he's not Roy Williams against the run, but maybe that is a good thing. At least he won't tear his body down in five seasons.

What was Watkins thinking, & is he the best that ESPN could come up with?

Watkins is a moron.

ESPN deserves what they get for hiring him.

What a moron. I guess he belongs at ESPN.

It is good to know why Watkins didn't want an OT..

The question I have is why did he pass up on the best OG in the draft?

well just from those names you mentioned being on the board still, i would throw Iupati's name on a card faster than you can blink an eye.

Guys, still say we will NOT take a OT in the first two, maybe three picks. JJ likes Free like I like beer.

IF Pouncey and Upati are all gone when we pick, we will trade down, IMO.

If you were lane we'd have some sort of idea of what that means.

Speaking of which, where is that old booze hound?

I use beer in my breakfast cereal instead of milk...that is how much I like it.

The only thing we need to know is the Cowboys have faith in him to be the starter.

Lets at least wait till he sucks before labeling him anything.

People have every right to be cautious though.

This is pretty much a weekly post for me:

Calvin Watkins: :lmao2:

This draft will determine how competitive we will be for the next 3 years people...Jerry please don't screw the loyal cowboys fans over.

agree man , im cautious too, but cautiously optimistic that he is ready to be a player for us . the last few years this coaching staff has done a very good job with young guy's and getting them ready to play . like austin, jenkins, spencer etc.. .

I feel the same way. And if the play they are talking about is the one where Romo fumbles, umm, that was Witten whiffing on the block.

Well at least Mike Iupati was available. He would most likely be the pick if available.

I'd like to punch him in the face.

LOL!!!

Seriously, that was the worst pick by far out of all the corespondents. If Iupati is still on the board, like he was in ESPN's mock, the Cowboys would snatch him quicker than you can say "Calvin Watkins is clueless".

And if we do go with a safety at #27 who's name isn't Berry, Thomas, or Mays; it would certainly be Nate Allen over Burnett.
