Steve, Seattle: Matt, Do you see the Seahawks going after Alge Crumpler or drafting Fred Davis?
Matt Mosley: Greetings from Naptown. My time is short because of live-blog responsibilities. The Seahawks desperately need a tight end. In fact, I talked to a high-ranking member of their organization about this very topic the other night. Fred Davis is an excellent player, and I really like Martellus Bennett out of Texas A&M. I don't think Crumpler is headed to Seattle.
Mark (Columbus OH): Defensive Ends... do you take Chris Long or Vernon Gholston? The take I hear on Long is that he has polished technical skills but has probably topped out already given his athleticism. Gholston on the other hand is a little undersized for an end but has athleticism off the chart and room to grow as a technician. Which one is creating more Buzz?
Matt Mosley: I know the Dolphins love Chris Long, but I think Gholston would probably be a better fit in that scheme. He can play defensive end or stand up and play LB in the 3-4. That said, Kevin Colbert of the Steelers was going crazy over Long yesterday. Saying he was a lot more versatile than what people are saying.
Mindy (Wilsonville, OR.): Mendenhall or Stewart?
Matt Mosley: I realize Stewart is thought of as more of a straight-line guy, but I'd still take him over Mendenhall. He has a great burst, and if he stays healthy, I think he has a chance to be as good if not better than McFadden. Honestly, Felix Jones may end up having a better NFL career than McFadden.
Ryan (San Diego): Hey Matt, in your blog you mentioned the qb's doing interviews and stuff today. Anybody heard from my boy Josh Johnson? He's flying under the radar apparently
Matt Mosley: Well, he comes from a non-scholarship I-AA school San Diego. Jim Harbaugh coached the kid. You have to be somewhat skeptical because of the inferior competition, but anyone that throws 43 touchdowns and one interception in a season is doing something right. I like the kid a lot. He can also run
EB NYC: Hey Matt- How many reps did Jake Long bench today?
Matt Mosley: EB:
I think they're doing it right now. I'll try to find it out and post on the blog later.
Stephen (New Orleans, LA): Where do you think Matt Forte from Tulane ranks among the RB prospects, and which round do you see him going in?
Matt Mosley: Stephen:
I have him as my No. 8 back on the board. Deep, deep class of runners. I think he probably goes in the third round.
Ryan(Baltimore): I was wondering why draft analysts says one of the Ravens needs is DT. I know Sedrick Ellis would be a steal at 8, but the Ravens have much bigger needs than DT. Ngata should have been in the Pro Bowl this year and Gregg is a good player as well.
Matt Mosley: Ryan:
It's funny you ask. I'm heading to dinner with the Ravens tonight. I'll ask them your question. I still think they'll take a quarterback with that pick.
Perc & Jada VA: Hey Matt- Jake Long's measurables were pretty good huh? Who would you compare him to? (besides Bigfoot)
Matt Mosley: Funny comment. Yeah, I was stunned by how big he was. Just an absolute monster. I think he was something like 6-7, 313 and his hands are off the charts. I think Bigfoot is what you should stick with.
DCFanatic, NY: Jordy Nelson, Lavelle Hawkins or Kevin Robinson for the Cowboys in round two?
Matt Mosley: Go get Malcolm Kelly out of OU
Brian (Houston, TX): Is it true that Glenn Dorsey and Doucet will not take part in the workouts at the combine? How are the scouts and other personnel taking this news? Is it hurting their stock?
Matt Mosley: Brian:
I don't think teams get as upset as they used to. In some ways, the interviews are more important than the actual workout. LSU will simply have a huge Pro Day.
Matt (Northport, NY): Do you think it is smart for the Falcons to draft Matt Ryan @ #3? If yes, why? If no, how far does he fall?
Matt Mosley: I talked to Matt Ryan a little earlier. He had a very impressive showing in the interview room. He'll perform at Pro Day on March 18. If I'm the Falcons, I take him. I know the Dolphins are doing their due diligence on Ryan as we speak. And Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano love BC kids.
john WHitestone NY: Do you think its a good idea for the giants to trade for D Hall?
Matt Mosley: I've never been a fan of messing with great chemistry, but the Giants could certainly use some help in the secondary. I think DeAngelo Hall is a solid player. Maybe a little overrated, but he could certainly help.
Eric (Sioux City): I liked your hash on M.Bennett. What is your assessment of fellow TE Jermichael Finley?
Matt Mosley: Thanks, Eric. I like Finley, but honestly I didn't get to watch him enough. He and Bennett both have great size. I just think Bennett is a little more Fluid. But Finley would be a great target. I'm not certain he has great hands. Still trying to figure out where he's going to go. But I like the player.
Scott, Dixon, CA: Matt, did the 49ers choke this draft pick or not? They did get Joe Staley, but was he worth the 7th pick in the 2008 draft? What do you think?
Matt Mosley: I think the 49ers think Staley could be really good. That line needs some stability and that's what he provides. But yes, they'd love that pick back.
Ken Cullum, Stockton, Ca: Writers are saying the CB class is really weak. So who does Dallas draft for that corner spot now?
Matt Mosley: Aqib Talib out of Kansas is a big corner the Cowboys like a lot. He's a gambler, but he would be able to help that team in a big way.
Sam (Bucknell University): How do you separate Malcolm Kelly, DeSean Jackson and Mario Manningham.
Matt Mosley: Sam:
I'm still trying to do this. I've seen Kelly play the most and I think he's pretty special. DeSean Jackson might have more upside. I have Manningham third, but that's just me. OK, I have to wrap it up because my blogging partner has gone into hiding and I have to jump back on. Thanks for everyone who participated. If you guys are interested, I'll try to stop by tomorrow.
