Robert (Youngstown, PA): Do you think Heath Miller will have a lot of success against NE's aging LB's?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:36 PM ET ) Thanks for your patience this afternoon. We had to move things back 30 minutes because of an interview but I'm ready to go. I think you should expect Pittsburgh to feed the ball to Willie Parker at least 25 times. Even if nothing's there early, they have to stay with the running game. I don't like this Steelers line as much as in past years though, so it could be tough. And yes, you're seeing the Pat' aging LBs starting to wear down a bit. Heath Miller? Sure.

PT (Franklin, NC): Do you think the Raiders have a chance to upset the ailing Packers?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:38 PM ET ) I know the Raiders have shown signs of life, but the Packers aren't going to lose this game at Lambeau. You have snow on the ground, and I think Brett Favre will have a nice effort. I also think the Packers will commit to running game with Ryan Grant. They'll use a lot of misdirection and zone blocking to get him free. I think he'll actually have a big day. Packers win, 17-7.

Keith (South Dakota): Has your opinion changed about Vikes QB Tarvaris Jackson?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:40 PM ET ) Keith: I still think it's too early in the process to say he's really coming around. I think the biggest difference is that Childress is finally putting him in position to succeed. Earlier in the year, he was running for his life because nothing was happening quickly enough. Now he has Peterson and his receivers are actually running hot routes. He's a lot more comfortable.

Luis (SB, CA): Mosley, good to see you could make it. Will Terrence Newman finally get his due this year? He deserves a Pro Bowl invite no?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:42 PM ET ) Luis: I sure hope so. Newman has been one of the most consistent corners in the league, but he's never received much recognition because teams often throw away from him. This year, he's getting his hands on more balls and showing how dynamic a player he can be. And I think his foot is finally close to 100 percent. He should go to the Pro Bowl. No doubt.

Bill (Boston): Pats or Steelers? You saw the pats last week and the steelers the week before. prediction?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:45 PM ET ) Bill: I don't see the Patriots losing at home in this one. On paper, the Steelers match up with the Pats better than the Eagles and Ravens. But I think that narrow win may have galvanized this team. You've seen the Steelers struggle on the road. I just have a real hard time seeing the Patriots struggle for the third consecutive week. In fact, I think they'll cover at home, 27-10.

Shady (Chicago, Illinois): Why have the Bears struggled to involve play-maker Devin Hester on offense? Do you see Devin Making an impact tonight against the Commanders considering Hester went to the "U"?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:48 PM ET ) I think Hester is the most dynamic player in the league. But it's hard for a guy to turn on the switch and run good routes and make all the catches. The Bears need to put him in good spots. Toss it out to him in the flat and let him make people miss. He's unbelievable to watch, but for some reason he still has trouble judging and fielding punts and kickoffs at times. I would never give him the chance to beat me, but Joe Gibbs is old school. And I don't think The U will have anything to do with the outcome.

Luis (SB, CA): Matt, love your work man. What're the chances of seeing you on Around the Horn one day? I think you can stick it to those Mariotti, Woody, and Adande

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:50 PM ET ) You raise an excellent point, Luis. For now, I'll stick with my ESPN News gig because I have a lot of fun with it. (Every Friday afternoon)...And the truth is that my pal Tim Cowlishaw lives here and hogs all the appearances. OK, not like Mariotti, but he's still pretty territorial. An excellent observation though. Please contact the TV division immediately.

Shady: I mentioned The U because both Hester and Sean Taylor were former Miami Hurricanes. I thought we might see a special something from Devin to honor Taylor's memory. Thanks for the reply!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:52 PM ET ) Yes, I know why you mentioned it, Shady. I'm just saying that this kid's dynamic enough as it is. I think the thing he doesn't want to do is try too hard. That's what happens on some of his returns. He's racing around looking for the home run when 25 yards would be the better option.

Jon (Mass): Hi Matt, Love Hashmarks.... any update on Terry Glenn, I'm a big Cowboys fan...

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:53 PM ET ) Jon: Terry Glenn has done everything in his power to get back on the field. If he plays, it could likely be the end of his career. I haven't talked to him in about a month, but I'll place a call on your behalf.

Paul, NY: Is Kellen Clemens the answer at QB for the Jets? What is his upside?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:55 PM ET ) The answer for Kellen Clemens is the Miami Dolphins. I think the Jets are trying to figure out what his upside is. He managed the game well in the upset win over the Steelers. He was pitiful in the face of a huge rush against the Cowboys. And I thought he played well against the hapless Dolphins. I don't think anyone can say he's the answer. We still don't know enough.

Shant, Lansdowne, VA: Straight up in your OPINION whats wrong with the Washington Commanders?? Thanks for your reply!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (3:58 PM ET ) Not sure where to start. Besides losing their most dynamic defensive player in a tragic way, they just haven't been able to sustain anything on the offensive side of the ball. I think it's an understatement to say that Santana Moss has been a disappointment. I just have a hard time thinking of him as a No. 1 wide receiver. Jason Campbell's best option is Chris Cooley. If you can stop him, you can pretty much stop the Commanders' passing game. And the opportunistic defense led by London Fletcher collapses at the worst possible times. I don't think they ever recovered from the thrashing that the Patriots delivered. I do think they're one of the best losing teams out there.

DCFanatic, NY: Be honest - Were Kitna's comments taken out of context in your opinion?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:01 PM ET ) Not sure how you take radio comments out of context. He said every bit of that stuff. Yes, I know he thought he was just having fun on a Seattle radio station, but in the age of blogs, word travels a little faster. I'm amazed how naive these guys are. Ask Jim Mora about going on Seattle radio. In fact, I think everyone should avoid Seattle radio no matter what. That's my new policy.

Shawn Tn : Matt I Corrected my spelling so can you answer this now?.. Just read the Roy Williams is not happy in Detroit and does not want to come back next year, he also said he would like to return to Texas. Any chance of him and TO co-existing in Dallas since Glenn most likely will not be back next year?

sn2.gif
Buzzmaster: (4:03 PM ET ) Matt will be back up and running in about five minutes!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:04 PM ET ) I think Jerry Jones would love to have Roy Williams, but he's not going anywhere next season. I don't have his contract status in front of me, but I think he's unrestricted after next season. The Lions will try to lock him up. That would be too embarrassing to lose another first-round receiver. And could someone tell me why Martz refuses to utilize Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson. It's silly that he'd rather throw to McDonald because of the familiarity. He's run that team into the ground by refusing to run.

Jason (Calgary, Alberta): Hey Matt, where do you see McNabb playing next year? Also, any thoughts on Stephen A Smith trashing bloggers? Could you take him in a chessboxing match?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:08 PM ET ) I think McNabb will be right back in Philly. Mark that down. And I didn't hear Stephen A's take on bloggers, so I'll reserve comment. I'm sure he would never intentionally trash Hashmarks.

Salisbury, MD: Who wins tonights game? How worn out are the Commanders from the loss on Sunday and the funeral on Tuesday?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:10 PM ET ) Contrary to popular belief, I don't have any rooting interest in the league. That said, it sure would be nice to see the Commanders get a win after what they've been through. Both teams will be emotionally spent, although it's obvious the Commanders have dealt with so much more. Give me Washington on a Suisham field goal.

Mike: Dallas: Matt, please find a way to expense a new laptop. That piece goes down every other day.

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:11 PM ET ) That's a good idea.

Glenn (NJ): who would you rather have on your team, Moss or T.O.? and is Moss really dogging plays?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:15 PM ET ) Glenn:

I think too much is being made about Moss taking plays off. With the numbers he's put up, I'll let him take a few plays off. If you isolate on almost any receiver in the league, there are plays they don't fire out and try to sustain their blocks or run an aggressive decoy route. I think both players are in perfect situations right now. They get along with their quarterbacks and respect their head coaches. I think it's about even on who I would take.

Jason, Cleveland: Matt -- Currently Wes Welker is leading Josh Cribbs in pro bowl voting for AFC Special Teamer. Please tell me the other 2/3rds responsible for voting is more intelligent then the fans? Thanks!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:17 PM ET ) Jason: The coaches and players will help sort this out. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying. The folks in those two groups know how huge of an impact Cribbs has made. But Welker's a more popular player. Things like that happen in the fan voting. Last time I looked, Nick Folk had more votes than the greatest punter in league history, Mat McBriar. People make mistakes.

Brad (Reno, NV): One of the reasons people hate the Pats is because of Tom Brady and his handling of his private life. It's bad enought hat he dumped his pregnant gf (who knows what the story is...but...kinda harsh to dump a pregnant gf) but when tshe had the baby, The Pats gave him 7 days off. He spent ONE day to see them .... then came right back to NE. Talk about NOT manning up!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:19 PM ET ) Brad:

I'm not sure how fair that is. I've had some fun at Brady's expense, but I'm not so sure the breakup didn't happen before he knew she was pregnant. And I seem to recall him leaving the hospital to play in a preseason game. That's his job. I don't think we have enough facts to say that he's not "manning up."

Matt - Boston: More losses for KC equals a higher draft pick. If Croyle doesn't produce down the stretch, will the Chiefs look at someone like Matt Ryan or are their needs along the o-line more pressing?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:22 PM ET ) I've seen nothing from Croyle that would indicate he's the future of this franchise. I think you have to explore quarterbacks through free agency and the draft. Matt Ryan might end up being a great professional quarterback, but keep your eye on Flacco out of Deleware. A lot of teams are starting to fall for him.

Rich (Seattle, WA): Who do you think has the better chance of making the playoffs, the Vikings or the Lions?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:23 PM ET ) Not even close. It's the Vikes. The schedule is favorable and the Lions are in a freefall that will continue against the Cowboys on Sunday.

brent(montana): HI MATT-any chance of the niners getting a q.b with the late first round pick, and get rid of that bust alex

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:25 PM ET ) I think the 'Niners have invested too much time and money in Smith to get rid of him. This team needs help at receiver and on the line. I like Staley, but guys like Larry Allen are at the end of the road. I don't think the 49ers hold Smith responsible for the season going south.

Trevor Ocala, Fl: Better Defense- Bucs or Steelers?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:26 PM ET ) Steelers

Joe (NY): A lot has been made about putting Shanahan out to pasture in Denver. DO you think it is time to bring in a fresh new face, a new scheme, etc?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:27 PM ET ) Joe: The only way Shanahan's out in Denver is if he retires. I promise you he's safe. I realize how bad they've been at times this season, but he still has Bowlen's support.

Keith (South Dakota): Who do you think will get the final wild card spot in the NFC?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:30 PM ET ) As crazy as this sounds, I think it's going to be the Vikings.

Joe (NY): What does Carolina do for next year? Pray that Delhomme recovers from his injury or do they enter Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm sweepstakes?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:33 PM ET ) What? You don't think Vinny has a few more years left in him? I think the Panthers have to consider drafting a quarterback. I'm not sure Matt Ryan and Brian Brohm will still be there when they pick, though. Quarterback is huge, but this team has slowly let its bread and butter, the defense, fall apart. I think that's where you better find impact players. And I mean quick.

Mike (Brooklyn): Hey Matt, love your stuff, do you think the Giants will get out of the first round this year?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:33 PM ET ) Nope. And if they don't, Coughlin's gone.

Tony (Iowa): Anthony Smith Guaranteed a win. Who does he think he is..Joe Namath

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:35 PM ET ) Wrote about this on Hashmarks. Makes absolutely no sense for someone that obscure to predict a win. Sometimes a prediction can galvanize a team. Jimmy Johnson did it with the Cowboys and Jim Fassel did it with the Giants. When Anthony Smith makes a prediction, people just want to know who the heck he is.

Ryan (Wi): Is Aaron Rodgers the answer after Favre retires or someone else?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:36 PM ET ) Impossible for us to say that Aaron Rodgers isn't the answer. We haven't seen enough. Now, I loved what I saw in the game last Thursday. He was really efficient in a tough spot.. He calmed the Packers down and actually got them back in the game.

Keith (Iowa): Hi. It's been snowing here for hours. How is your weather. Would you say Minnesota has the best offensive and defensive lines??

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:38 PM ET ) With the loss of Ray Edwards to a suspension and Erasmus James possibly out with an injury, I'd have to say the offensive line is in better shape than the DL.

lou (san marcos): why isn't Nolan's job on the line? His communication skills are less than stellar with both his QB and his offensive coach, and his team is getting worse by the week.

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:39 PM ET ) I think the injury to Smith probably saves him. If they lose all these games with their franchise quarterback, then he might be out. But having to start Trent Dilfer gives you an automatic excuse.

Josh (Reno): Matt if you were a betting man would you put money down on the Patirots finishing the regular season undefeated?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:40 PM ET ) Yes.

Dave (Indy): Marvin Harrison's knee injury sure smacks of Edge's knee problems a few years ago (aka MCL). Will he play again this year?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:42 PM ET ) It shouldn't shock us that the Colts haven't been truthful about the seriousness of this injury. And for some reason, the local media in Indy hasn't challenged them one bit. Harrison needed a lot more than rest when they sat him down against the Patriots. I honestly think this is an injury that will linger for the rest of his career.

Hieu (San Diego): Maybe if SF stole Norv away from San Diego it could save Nolan's job... and San Diego as a team.... I can dream, right?

Ryan (Chicago, Il): Who would you take AD or LT?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:44 PM ET ) I still think LT is the more versatile back, but Adrian Peterson has had a huge impact. If I'm starting a team, I go with Peterson.

lou (san marcos): Matt, you half answered my question about Nolan. I agree the QB injury might buy him some time. But he has shown for two seasons now that he doesn't belong in the NFL coaching ranks. His teams always seem ill prepared and mistake prone. What am I missing?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:48 PM ET ) You're asking a leading question, counselor. You're not going to be satisfied with anything I say. The club went into a season without a reliable threat at receiver and they refuse to involve a tight end that was supposed to have a monster season. Oh, and one of the best backs in football can't get it going. I'm not trying to defend Nolan, but I'm just saying he's going to get the benefit of the doubt because of all that took place. Unfortunately, he's going to have to make some changes on his staff. I hope my man George Warhops isn't the fall guy. He's played that role before. Would hate to see it happen again.

Tony (Iowa): The Bengals had something good going for them a few years ago when Carson Palmer took them to the playoffs. When Carson got hurt they lost. Now that they have had a healthy Carson Palmer it doesn't make any since that they continue to lose. Their defense is lack luster this year, but other then that why is their offense so unconsistant?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:50 PM ET ) Losing Henry for the first eight games hurt more than some of us predicted. He didn't catch a ton of passes, but he ended up in the end zone quite a bit. I also think the lack of a consistent running game has hurt the Bengals. And regarding that defense. It's really tough when you're playing from behind all the time.

Reggie (New Orleans): Matt - did I lead you to your fantasy playoffs this year or did the 0-fer streak continue?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:51 PM ET ) You led me down a path of destruction. Just a pitiful year. My co-GM had to do all the work this year. Things did not go well.

Matt (FLORIDA): What do you see for the Dolphins for the rest of this year, the draft and next year? Anything promising besides a young team?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:53 PM ET ) Matt: I saw them up close and personal Sunday and it wasn't a pretty sight. The Dolphins don't have anything left. They're about to go where no team other than Tampa Bay has gone. Have no clue what they plan to do in the draft. I'm not sure Dorsey's worthy of a No. 1 pick, but that's a position where they need help.

Mark, Ney York: If the Patriots could snag McFadden in the draft, would they? Or trade down? A McFadden/Maroney situation might be awesome.

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:54 PM ET ) Can you please share whatever that is your smoking? Patriots won't get close to McFadden.

Josh (Reno): Am I the only one that sees the 0-14 dolphins giving the 14-0 Patriots a good game in a few weeks? Possibly the biggest upset in NFL history?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:55 PM ET ) Yep. Josh. You're on an island, and no one's going to save you.

Tim ((Washington)): What do you see happening in Cleveland with Brady Quinn now since Derek Anderson is having the season hes having?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:56 PM ET ) I think he should cool his heels for a little while because Anderson's not going anywhere.

Nick (Portland) : Are you forgetting the Pats have the Niners pick?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (4:59 PM ET ) No I'm aware of this Nick. But the more I talk to people around the league, McFadden will be too much for the Dolphins to pass up. And the Patriots actually think they're set with Maroney. But yes, I shouldn't have been so hard on the guy who suggested the Maroney-McFadden duo.

Tim ((Washington)): How about the talk bout the Bears possibly trying to get McNabb to come to Chicago you think they could snag him away from Philly?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (5:03 PM ET ) Tim: I know you saw where the Eagles put it out there that they would need three No. 1s. That's ridiculous. I think you should see how Philly looks over the last four games, and then talk about it. The funny thing is that Grossman's actually putting up decent numbers right now. But I think the Bears have learned their lesson. Some teams spend forever looking for quarterbacks, and that would include your Bears.

Bull!

The Boston media is all over Maroney in a similar fashion that Dallas is all over Julius Jones.

I didn't really consider that a good Cowboy question to note. I bolded the relevant portion.

IF New England doesn't want Maroney he can line up in my backfield along with his former running mate MB III here in Big D!

If you are speaking about McFadden, he was never our boy and won't likely ever be our boy.

haha.. baloney.. it's obvious that Mosley had no idea that the Pats had the Niners' pick.. Notice that he said the Patriots "won't get close to McFadden".. he obviously felt like an idiot and tried to cover it up.. i love things like this, one of my favorite parts about reading blogs from the "experts"..

Pats won't get close to him. It is true. He will go top 3. I don't see him going to miami because they REALY need a QB out there but he will go 2nd or 3rd and as it stands now they could end up with 5th or lower.

mcfadden won't get to the patriots pick because teams recognize what adrian peterson has done for the vikings. he will be top 3.

i think teams were lulled into the rbbc saw bush with little success and though they're easily found.

That's exactly what I was thinking. He forgot about the Niner's pick. Can't blame him ... he's gotta cover 32 teams. But he shouldn't try to sound so arrogant and condescending.
