ESPN Mosley: Is Keith Davis headed back to Dallas?

HOLY CRAP, i just realized if davis is on the team the first time Roy makes a mistake 100 trolls are gonna start threads about how killa should be starting.

I officially change my stance, stay away killa!
They will be doing that anyway only it will be move Henry to FS and Hamlin to SS.

If he ask for his release because he wasn't going to be starting, he isn't coming back here.

This is pretty much as close to a no brainer as it gets.

yeah but he wont get paid 3.5mill in 2 years. and he wont start. i think those things can be an issue as much as i would love to have him back.

also who do you cut for him ? we are already thin at wr. and cb would hurt too. so who do you cut ? watkins ?

i dont see him on this team :(

I can't believe he thinks he is a starter. He has no career INTs. If he can accept his role here I wouldn't mind bringing him back. Part of me (the greedy part who wants that Compensatory Draft pick) hopes he signs somewhere else.

Yea that pick scares me if we lose it,the next James martin could be there.:laugh2:

Is there a rule about that compensatory pick?
Basically if we lose a UFA to another team we get a pick. We had lost him to Miami, so we were probably going to get a 7th round Comp pick. That is now null and void, but if he were to sign with Nawlins, I assume since we still lost him that we would get the pick.

He'd be a big improvement for the Commanders. He'd be a HELLUVA lot better as an "in the box" safety than that spare Reed Doughty.

Or the next Jay Ratliff.
What are the chances?1 in 1000?Picks past the 4th round are overated. At least Killa is proven in the special teams area.

I don't care what the odds are. Oh and with the possible lockout and new CBA and an uncapped year in 2010 and a possible rookie pay scale, I think more kids will declare in 2009 than ever before making it an excessively deep draft.

But I tend to think ahead like that. Stockpiling picks in a talent heavy year.

Exactly. We stink at coverage, he's a great coverage player.

Plus he's from here and has had some success here.

Some people are overthinking this. What's the downside? Cutting Dowayne Davis, who *might* be a Keith Davis starter kit? Why not just get the real thing?

Not sure it's that easy. He could have easily wanted out of Miami if he wasn't starting, but happily embrace a backup role elsewhere on a playoff-bound team.

He's not exactly the kind of guy whose door is going to be knocked over with starting offers.

He wont start on any team in the league, so the next best place is right here with the Cowboys.

Plus, he already knows the schemes and everything so he could play tonight if he really wanted.

The only way Dowayne would make the team is if the Cowboys kept 5 safeties... and I'm not sure about that one.

I want to agree, but attitude and the fact that he tends to get shot could possibly be a couple of reasons. Parcells loved the kid and still let him go, which suggests that Davis might not be willing to listen to reason regarding his role. And someone who doesn't know his place on the team can be a distraction. And I'm still not sold on his whole "coming home from a family party at 2 a.m." reasoning he gave for getting shot the last time.

I don't need one of our players getting shot and killed during the season and distracting our other players in that regard either.

I like the other idea, fire Bruce Read. This isn't a one or two player issue, it's a coaching issue. We look pathetic.

We kept 5 last year.

Williams
Hamlin
Davis
Watkins
Brown

I still swear this morning on Fox Radio I heard they released him after he was alleged to have made threats to the boyfriend of some girl he knows. I was only half listening until I heard them say Keith Davis.
