Hang in there everyone. Matt's running a few minutes late!

Chauncey (Newark, NJ)

Why does eli wait until the last second on the playclock to snap the ball?
Mosley (2:06 PM)

Hey guys, sorry I'm running a couple minutes late. I'm live from San Antonio with the Cowboys, but we can talk about whatever. I think Manning likes to take as long as possible to study the defense -- just like his brother.

ivan (russia)

is there any added pressue on Coach Phillips to keep Jesse Holley due to the way he was invited to camp?
Mosley (2:07 PM)

None at all. He'll be a fan favorite based on his "Fourth and Long" appearance, but the Cowboys are trying to form a roster. Michael Irvin has a lot of credibility with Jerry Jones, but that doesn't mean Holley's making the team based on his backstory.

Matt White (Red Bluff, Ca)

Matt, do you think we'll see Manningham and Nicks as the starters with Steve Smith playing out of the slot this year?
Mosley (2:08 PM)

No, I think Hixon and Smith will start. And Hicks may be knocking the door pretty early in the season.

John (Kearny, NJ)

Why can't you make it to the chat on time?
Mosley (2:08 PM)

Schilo's Deli in San Antonio is hard to pass up.

Rick (Bronx)

As a giants fan With the unfortunate passing of Jim Johnson what could be expected from the Eagles defense this year
Mosley (2:09 PM)

Jim Johnson's influence will still be all over this defense. He trained McDermott -- and he gave him a lot of responsibility. I don't think you'll see much difference. Lots of blitzing -- from all area of the field.

Sanjay (Philly)

Which team is more disappointed with the way last year finished? Giants or Cowboys? Seems like the GMen are at least more vocal about their frustrations, but I do not know how the Boys can mentally recover from that 44-6 performance with everything on the line against a in-division rival. are they just trying to forget that day?
Mosley (2:10 PM)

I think they were both very disappointed. But the Giants had more excuses, with the Plax fiasco and the banged up defense. The Cowboys flat out spit the bit. I think they're trying to wipe the slate clean and have a completely different mindset. At least that's what it feels like from down here in San Antonio.

Chris (DC)

Hey Matt, any news on how Colt Brennan is doing in the QB competition? I know the real competition begins during the preseason games?
Mosley (2:11 PM)

It's only been one day, Chris. Give me a week or so, and then we'll talk. I'll be at the preseason game on either Thursday or Friday of the week of Aug. 10. I'm hoping to see quite a bit of him.

Jason (Calgary (AB))

Does Reggie Brown have any trade value to the Ravens (given Harbough's tie to the Eagles)? It's a very crowded WR group in Philly...
Mosley (2:12 PM)

I think that lost spot will come down to either Brown or Baskett. They'd have to take a hit on the salary cap with the release of Brown. That will certainly be a consideration. I think Brown needs to have a tremendous (injury free) camp, though.

Patrick (Charlottesville)

Been a while, Matt. Do you have any details on the contracts that fellow Cavalier Clint Sintim and Will Beatty signed yesterday?
Mosley (2:13 PM)

Pretty standard deals. I think they were four-year contracts from what I remember seeing. I don't have the terms in front of me, but I can find out if you need me to.

Tom (Albuquerque)

The Cowboys receivers (especially Roy Williams) and Safeties have taken a lot of heat in the offseason. How does each group look so far in training camp?
Mosley (2:14 PM)

Receivers need to stay healthy -- first and foremost. Williams looks more explosive to me, and he's obviously more comfortable. At safety, Gerald Sensabaugh is a big upgrade over Roy Williams. Sounds weird to say about a five-time Pro Bowler -- but it's the truth.

Bobby (Columbia SC)

Who do you think will have a better season for the skins between Fred Davis, Malcolm Kelly or Devin Thomas?
Mosley (2:14 PM)

Thomas

Newman (VA)

With over 12 millions guaranteed was Orakpo overpaid?
Mosley (2:16 PM)

Not if he averages about 12 sacks per season over the next eight or nine years. No, that sounds about right to me. Most of these things are slotted. I don't think Orakpo's guaranteed portion was that out of whack.

James (Kansas City)

How is Romo looking?
Mosley (2:17 PM)

So far, so good James. He's been very accurate, and I've actually seen him check the ball down a little more than I recall in the past. That's a good sign.

Max (Harrisburg)

With Dawkins gone, who is stepping up to be a leader on the Eagles defense?
Mosley (2:18 PM)

I think Bradley can be an effective leader in the middle. Highly intelligent, and he's starting to use his size and speed a lot better. I also think Trent Cole's an underrated leader.

Zac A. (Marshalltown, IA)

How good is the Cowboys backfield, really? I hope they utilitze Marion Barber properly to reach his full potential. But with 3 special backs, don't you think it'll be hard for them to get in their groove splitting all those carries?
Mosley (2:20 PM)

I think it's a problem they look forward to having. And I think RBs coach Skip Peete is the right man for the job. He once had to work in Tyrone Wheatley, Charlie Garner, Jon Ritchie and all those guys at the same time. I think Kaufman may have been in there at some point. Crockett came a little later. He did a really nice job of balancing those guys.

James (Indy)

Matt, after Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood where does Romo go now? That guy is pulling way above his means. Hmm, maybe there's something to being the starting QB for the Dillis Cowboys.
Mosley (2:20 PM)

I think a school teacher in Coppell would be a good direction to go.

adesimo1 (Burbank, CA)

Will the Eagles keep 6 receivers like they did last year?(Curtis, Jackson, Maclin, Avant, Baskett and Brown)
Mosley (2:21 PM)

I think either Brown or Baskett will get left on the cutting room floor. They might try to trade Brown. The Ravens could certainly use some help at receiver. Let me check that for you.

Jason (Boston)

How fierce is the competition for Giants RB behind Jacobs?
Mosley (2:22 PM)

It hasn't started quite yet, but it will get pretty rough. I'm looking forward to watching. Ahmad Bradshaw has a ton of ability. Same for Danny Ware. But Andre Brown could come from the back of the pack to see significant playing time. It will be a fun position to watch as it unfolds. They'll probably take four of those guys to games.

Nate (Queens, NY)

Hows Stephen Bowen looking?
Mosley (2:24 PM)

I'm glad you asked, Nate. He looks bigger to me this season. And he's doing an excellent job of filling gaps. I saw him waiting in the hole to smack Ray Lewis' little bro, Keon Lattimore on Thursday. Bowen's one of those quiet guys who could end up doing some damage.

Yatin Patel (LA)

What can the Eagles realistically expect from last year's rookie pass-catchers, DeSean and Celek? I'd sure like to see more game-to-game consistency from DeSean
Mosley (2:25 PM)

Yes, I think it's reasonable to think Jackson will show more consistency. The fact that he's performed well on a huge stage will make him way more comfortable this season. Celek appears to be a very reliable receiver. And a tough competitor. I'm anxious to see where Ingram is in the recovery process from major surgery while at Florida.

david (DC)

is vick going to be wearing the burgundy and gold next season
Mosley (2:26 PM)

Jim Zorn doesn't seem to think so.

Zach (DC)

What Commanders RB's do you see making the roster?
Mosley (2:27 PM)

Portis, Betts and Mason. And of course Sellers at FB.

toni (florida)

what rookie for dallas will have the most impact in his 1st yr?
Mosley (2:29 PM)

I've been really impressed with the way Victor Butler out of Oregon State is flying around the field in the first few practices. But I think Michael Hamlin out of Clemson might end up having the biggest impact early.

K (philly)

Maclin still isnt in camp and Eagles offense isnt the easiest to pick up. Desean even said last year that first week was real important. Think it'll impact Maclin getting on the field or just too soon to tell?
Mosley (2:29 PM)

It might push him back a little bit in the preseason, but it's too early to spend a lot of time worrying about it. I bet he'll show up this weekend at some point. Andy Reid will keep calling him out until he signs.

Zach (Albany, NY)

There hasn't been much talk about Trent Shelton (6'2 202) making a bid for a spot on the roster. Do you see him taking Malcom Kellys spot if he doesn't step up?
Mosley (2:31 PM)

The Skins aren't going to cut their losses with Kelly yet. Shelton would have to grab one of the last roster spots. I watched the kid play at least 14 times in person at Baylor. Uses his body well and has excellent hands. Also an intriguing personality -- as evidenced by his large Twitter following. But it's a long shot.

James (Kansas City)

Do you think Marcus Dixon will make the Cowboys game roster this year? How has he looked?
Mosley (2:32 PM)

seems more like a practice squad player to me. He looked great yesterday morning. But then, everyone looks good against the Cowboys' backup offensive linemen. That's a really, really rough bunch to watch right now.

Sam (Baltimore, MD)

Is Nicks going to be in camp on time? Have you heard anything about his contract negotiations?
Mosley (2:33 PM)

He might wait until Sunday or Monday, but he won't miss enough time to make a huge difference. Way too much is made of these "holdouts." Lots of rhetoric. Once they show up, everyone usually embraces them -- and we move on with our lives. Nothing to see here.

Alex (new york)

How big of an impact will Ramses Barden have next year with the Giants and what kind of numbers should the fans expect?
Mosley (2:35 PM)

I don't think he'll make an immediate impact. He's a guy that might help them out later in the season. He might be effective in the red zone with his height and wingspan.

tom (South Carolina)

please answer this: can you list the cowboys depth at corner in order?
Mosley (2:36 PM)

You have Newman and Jenkins as the starters. Orlando Scandrick will play as much as a starter. Courtney Brown can play both safety and cornerback, but he'll be in the mix. I'd also throw the kid from Cincy, Mike Mickens, into the mix. Decent depth. Not great by any means.

James (Franklin, IN)

Could be a pretty big year for Beast Defenses. If you had to rank them now, how would it go?
Mosley (2:36 PM)

1. Giants2. Eagles 3. Cowboys 4. Skins

Brian (Eunice, LA)

Has Romo improved on his accuracy, especially deep throws...
Mosley (2:37 PM)

Hard to tell after three practices. He's always been a fairly accurate passer. It's just that he's careless with the ball at times. I think Romo puts nice touch on the deep ball, and he's hit Sam Hurd and Miles Austin on a couple of nice ones in this camp.

Red (TX)

What is Joe DeCamillis doing differently than Bruce Reed, other than being louder?
Mosley (2:39 PM)

Part of it is that Wade Phillips is putting more emphasis on the special teams. Why wasn't he doing that in the past? Your guess is as good as mine. Everyone has a ton of respect for DeCamillis, and I think his experience will play off. There are only a handful of special teams coaches who are truly difference makers. Obviously Bruce DeHaven with the Seahawks is one of those, and Joe D is right there with him.

Will (Binghamton, NY)

Does Albert Hanyesworth make the Commanders a top 5 Defense in the NFL?
Mosley (2:40 PM)

I think he's a top three player. And they ranked pretty high last season in overall defense. So there's a possibility they end up in the top five.

DJ (KC)

Which camp is your favorite to visit? Be honest wont hurt feelings in here
Mosley (2:42 PM)

Well, it was tough to beat the weather in Oxnard, Calif., but I love the setting at Lehigh University. It's just a gorgeous place to watch football. That's where the Eagles are. Skins don't even leave home and the University at Albany is a nice place, but it doesn't have the charm of Lehigh.

Tom (Dallas)

What's the status on Ware's contract extension?
Mosley (2:43 PM)

Sort of up in the air right now. It will get done, but for the time being, we're in a wait-and-see mode. I think he'll come in somewhere in the $45 million guaranteed range. But he could become the first to surpass $50 mil.

Bill (New York)

How is the food at the Alamodome? Peter King said the food at the Bill's camp was top notch.
Mosley (2:44 PM)

I've never eaten the food at the Alamodome. There's a place called Boudro's on the River Walk that I really like. And today we were over at Schilo's Deli. Great place.

Luc (DC)

How do you think the Giant's defense will be different without Spagnolo?
Mosley (2:45 PM)

You won't see a lot of noticeable changes. I think Sheridan will do some things to help out his linebackers in coverage against guys like Brian Westbrook and Felix Jones. But no huge changes.

Tom (Dallas)

Any word on how the Eagles plan to honor the late, great Jim Johnson this year?
Mosley (2:46 PM)

Tom, I know they've already painted "JJ" in the end zones in Lehigh. I'm sure they'll do something special at one of the first games.

Joe (Eugene, OR)

What are a couple of second year players that you think will impact the division this year?
Mosley (2:47 PM)

Kenny Phillips may be on the verge of becoming an elite safety already. I just love watching the guy. For Dallas, you have to be excited about Felix Jones and Tashard Choice at running back. Those are some names off the top of my head. Obviously DeSean Jackson should be a huge factor in his second season for the Eagles. And Chris Horton is only going to get better for the Skins. Horton and Landry should be solid together.

John (Seattle, WA)

Why doesn't Domenik Hixon get respect? Do you see him as the #1 WR for the entire year?
Mosley (2:49 PM)

Well, he hasn't done enough yet. And it didn't help that he dropped a certain touchdown pass against the Eagles. I think he's a tremendous kid who will only get better. But he hasn't done anything to warrant a lot of respect to this point -- other than be able to bounce back from that awful collision against the Bills.

Jay (California)

the thing about oxnard is the fog though in the morning, once that burns off the weather is nice and I bet you go the 30 minutes up the 101 to Santa Barbara
Mosley (2:49 PM)

OK, OK Jay. I get it.

Nick (Sandy Hook, CT)

Hey Matt, any guesses on who starts at free safety for Philly? Demps played so well last year, but having Sean Jones and not starting him seems so ridiculous. Either way, do you think they'll try to get both on the field?
Mosley (2:51 PM)

I think Demps will be the favorite. But Jones was a wise move. He's started in the league, and he's a solid option. And yes, they'll be on the field a lot.

michael (kentucky)

hey is fitzgerald and steve slaton for adrian peterson and deshean jackson a good trade on fantasy football no fantasy chat today thats why im asking thanks
Mosley (2:51 PM)

I'd trade for All Day and Jackson in a heartbeat.

Bill (Amarillo, TX)

Everyone keeps questioning WR depth for Dallas, however I think ILB depth could be a glaring need. There is only one true ILB behind Brooking and James and that's Barbie "Bust" Carpenter. Dallas could be in real trouble if Brooking or James goes down. Thoughts?
Mosley (2:54 PM)

I've been pretty tough on Carpenter, but he's actually a competent player. I watched him yesterday. He's reacting well and getting to the right spots. He just HAS to become more physical. They did bring in several young players who could challenge for a little time inside. I'm not overly worried about that position.

Jay (California)

You need to try Pascucci's Italian restaurant on State Street in SB, best food ever
Mosley (2:55 PM)

Campbell: 23 TDs, 12 INTS

Jayson (Phoenix, AZ)

How do you think Mark Sanchez will perform this year? He is now in charge of what it was Brett Favre last year.
Mosley (2:55 PM)

He will struggle mightily.

Nelson (Blackfoot, ID)

I think Romo is poised for a breakout year. With you know who gone he can actually throw to who's open. Your thoughts?
Mosley (2:56 PM)

Stats wise, he's already had a couple of breakout seasons. I think he'll take better care of the football this season. That's more important than putting up huge numbers.

Cornell (U Street)

Do you think Romo does not finish off the season well this year his job can be in jeopardy possibly? There is many QB's coming out of college next season.
Mosley (2:57 PM)

When you write a man a $30 million check, he's going to have some job security. He'll be the starter next season as long as he's healthy.

Joe (Camarillo, CA)

How is Nick Folk looking?
Mosley (2:58 PM)

Talked to him yesterday. He feels great. He still wants to handle kickoffs, but the Cowboys brought in the Buehler kid from USC to do that. Folk's one of the best in the league. Nothing to worry about there. Trust me.

Jonathan (Shrewsbury,England,UK)

Any way Keith Davis get's another shot with the Cowboys?
Mosley (2:59 PM)

I don't think so. Have we heard from Keith lately. Hey, you guys were amazing. We finished with more than 640 questions. That's a pretty solid number. Let's double it this coming Tuesday. Have a wonderful day.

Kitna and McGee might be running for their lives in those pre-season games.

I doubt the second teams as bad as he claims. He has a history of being overly negative. The third string on the other hand?

Considering how little real time any of the backups have played outside of the proctologist, maybe they really suck as bad as we fear.

The backup OLineman are a real concern there can be no doubt about that, but I'd like to temper the panic by the media just a bit.

When conducting practice in order to look decent you need 5 capable backups, however during the regular season you really should be able to get by with 2 bona fide players there ... although 3 would be much safer.

I feel comfortable that we have one in Holland and I really hope to god that Free can be that second guy but that's just wishing upon a star on my part at this point.

My thoughts exactly.

It does suck that rookie Robert Brewster, who was running second team right tackle, has been shelved and forced Pat McQuistan back to the outside from guard.

Lookee here. A great assessment from Mosley!
