Thursday's podcast: Martellus Bennett

Here's that Martellus Bennett interview I promised you guys yesterday. I really thought we were dying early because the Cowboys' second-round pick was giving two-word answers and sounding groggy. But after I asked a desperation question about his wingspan, Bennett started mining comic gold.

Listen to the podcast if you'd like to hear about Bennett's "super powers." Things get truly nutty when he starts discussing his X-ray vision. I don't know if the kid can play a lick, but he'll be fun to have around. And I'm told that NFL Films president Steve Sabol was listening to the interview, so expect Bennett to play a prominent role on HBO's "Hard Knocks."

Wow. That was a terrible interview.
And yet, Galloway & Co. loved it. Go figure.

He sounded half sleep and they were soft-balling him to perk him up.

I didn't hear any two-word answers, but I did hear a couple leading questions that really didn't give him much room to expound.

One of my closest college friend's is on the radio in College Station and did weekly interviews with Martellus during the season. He said the guy is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet along with being incredibly kind and down to earth. His humor and sarcasm sometimes gives people the impression that he's cocky and could be a problem child in the Ocho Cinco mold. Rest assured, he's quite the opposite. He plays for the team, works extremely hard, and has a very good attitude. He just likes to have fun and not take life too seriously.

There are tons of them out there, you just have to lower your standards in other areas. You know... looks, weird behavior ticks and original gender at birth.

I agree. Most of the reporters who know Bennett have said the same thing you are saying. He is a good kid that sometimes comes off the wrong way to some people.

I think you've got to draw the line at original gender at birth.

:D
