Orlando Scandrick takes blame for only one TD

IRVING, Texas -- It appeared that Orlando Scandrick was the burn victim on both of the Titans’ passing touchdowns Sunday. That’s not true, according to the cornerback.

Scandrick accepts complete blame for the 24-yard touchdown to Nate Washington on the Titans’ opening possession. But he was supposed to have help on the 12-yard touchdown to Kenny Britt.

“I gave up one play,” Scandrick said. “[Washington] located the ball on the touchdown. That was my fault. I’ve got to find it. On the other play, everybody’s got to do their job. …

“On the other play to Kenny Britt, there’s 11 people on the field, 11 people got to do their job. We had a miscommunication on the field and it led to a touchdown.”

Scandrick didn’t identify which teammate was supposed to pick up Britt, but it appears that free safety Alan Ball was to blame.

“Everybody’s got to do their job,” Scandrick said. “This is no time to point fingers. I’m not pointing fingers at anybody. If any finger needs to be pointed, it needs to be pointed at myself.”

We all thought it was endearing his rookie season being a 5th round pick from Boise St. with something to prove.

Then last year he was a curmugeon about having to compete for the starting CB spot against Jenkins. He gets an opportunity and absolutely embarrases himself.

Now he does the classic passive-aggressive route by essentially blaming another player (I'm assuming Alan Ball) and then quickly stating "this ain't the time to point fingers."

Tell me, was it Ball's fault you had poor technique allowing Britt to get up on you and away from you on a predictable route in the endzone?

Somebody please inform Mr. Scandrick that he's allowed to knock down a pass every now and then. His specialty seems to be tackling a receiver after he's already caught it.

Somebody also inform Mr. Scandrick that he is allowed to turn around to look for the ball. You don't have to look at the receiver as if you are going to dance with him at the prom. If you did turn around Mr. Scandrick, you would have intercepted the football or broke up the pass at least. You did this several more times during the game.

He's an All-Pro at that, lol.

He reminds me of Mark McMillan (not physically); he'll run with you all day, chase you around the field, but just won't make a play on the ball.

Nah, Mark McMillian, he was 5'7" 155 lbs. He actually had a few decent years, but for a long time a friend and I would laugh watching him play because he always be around the receiver but just couldn't make a play for whatever reason.

Don't you remember back in the offseason how Alan Ball was going to surprise fans because he's really not a JAG and he and the cornerbacks had some magical ESP thing going on because Ball used to be a cornerback and they all were on some mysterious psychic wavelength?

While everyone is busy lambasting OScan, take a minute to think about what he said. Perhaps he was trying to recover from a blown coverage by Ball. If that was indeed the case, does he still deserve to be lambasted all to hell?
