Romo hasn't been a good leader so far. This year he seems to be making some changes, but they seem to have in part been prompted by Witten. He seems to have a ton of respect for Witten and will follow his lead.

Whether he likes it or not, good leaders will get on a teammates arse when necessary. A lot of people say Tim Duncan doesn't, which is hogwash. I've seen the guy in person lace into some teammates for sloppy play.

As much as I am loathe to say it, I thought Eli did a good job of showing this type of leadership in their game against the Saints. IIRC, Bradshaw missed a blitz pickup and Eli fired into him a bit, but then put his arm around him and you could basically see that his point was he demanded better from Bradshaw, but knew Bradshaw was putting for the effort.

You don't have to be a drill sargeant out there, although I've seen very effective leaders act in that fashion in sports and while it won't win them popularity contests, it won them championships. But you have to demand excellence from yourself and your teammates and have to do what it takes to get it. If that means calmly explaining this or asking them what's going on from their vantage point, so be it. But there do come times when you have to let it be known that playing under your capabilities will not be tolerated.

I think we saw glimpses of that in the KC game, but I think I am personally waiting to see it in a bigger game, against a tougher opponent, and for Tony to turn things around in that game by leading the team.

Is this a joke? How do you or ANY fan have any clue of what kind of leader he is to his teammates? All you can do is speculate by what you see, but you're still just another person on the outside looking in. I can tell you that he's at least setting a good example, looking at his recent games.

This either proves that (1) the people who voted in the poll are idiots, or (2) leadership has little to do with winning (Romo is 13-6 over the last two years).

I'm happy with either conclusion.

as much as i dont agree with it, i believe this has alot to do with romo not winning what some call the "big games" ie: dec and jan. I would be willing to bet though when we make it into the playoffs + WIN atleast 1 game that poll flops in romos favor closer to 60/40

It doesn't matter what we think. What matters is what those those guys in that locker room think, and I think they're thinking winning ball games. Stupid worthless poll. If I could piss on this poll I would.

I think the leader in Tony is still developing but I like what I have been seeing as of late. That poll is garbage. Typical BSPN...

I've seen Tony yell at teammates who make bad plays on several occasions. If you heard his "mic'd up" segment from the season opener at Tampa Bay, you'd have heard him tell teammates "hey we need to do a better job" etc.

In the playoff game vs. the Giants he was screaming at the OL for their shoddy protection. But lo and behold, that wasn't labeled as "leadership". That was labeled "Romo's losing his composure!"

He's a terrific QB... but he's still the Cowboys QB. That means that until he wins a Super Bowl, he can't win.

It puts an incredibly unfair amount of pressure on Romo's shoulders to win a Super Bowl, and that's probably the way Jerry prefers it.

In Romo's career he hasn't been that great of a leader. I think it's safe to say that there's an abundance of talent on the roster over the years. We've seen Dallas dominate solid teams in that time by playing halfway decent. But, we've also seen this team...particularly the offense, shoot itself in the foot with dumb mental mistakes.

And in Romo's career he's admitted publically that he doesn't feel the need to lace into a player and demand better. And his answers to the turnovers in the past were to blow it off as no big deal and 'that's what comes with being a big play QB.'

He does seem to have changed his tune this year, but it's easy to see why so many people voted that Romo is not a good leader. Calling them stupid because that's the perception is a bit foolish because they could call a Romo supporter stupid for having the perception that he's a good leader.

Hey, Tony brought a lot of this on himself. When you admit, point blank, that interception you threw was 'basically a punt' and go out of your way to make the point that you don't feel the need to lace into players and then you have an offense that tends to commit a lot of penalties and make a lot of mistakes, the perception is going to be negative.

I think he's changed his tune this year, but I'm not going to label him a good leader until I see more than him getting into some players against KC and TB.

I do think the criticism in the press and from the fans and non-fans in general has gotten him to change his tune. And that's a good thing about Tony's personality.

I'm not sure how the people who voted in this poll can either quantitatively or qualitatively assess such a title. I'm not sure these people could ever know, unless the following holds true:

A QB is dubbed a field general. Generals lead their troops. The only people who can really answer such a question and have their opinions hold legitimate value are the people who play on the field with him and the coaches who see him everyday in practice.

I think it's a stupid poll, but most are never really meant as indicators of truth anyways except possibly in an election. Most are just indicators of bias.

The only true result of that poll is that there are a hell of a lot more people out there that want to see the Cowboys fail than succeed.
