IRVING, Texas -- For years, Jerry Jones has defended the structure of the Cowboys’ organization because, in part, it saves time in decision making.

With other teams, the general manager has to go to the owner and get the OK on the big deals and even some of the small deals. There is no such step to take at Valley Ranch with Jones occupying the owner’s chair as well as the general manager’s hat.

Teams have to act quickly in free agency. Waiting for an OK from an owner on the size of a check can break a deal and allow other teams to swoop in and steal a player.

With how frenzied things are about to become once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached between the teams and players, Jones will get the chance to prove just how effective the structure is...

I think this is a good point.

For as much as many of us criticize the Owner'GM thing that Jerry does, in this instance, with the time constraints involved, it should be to the Cowboys' advantage.

That said, the front office will have to be burning the midnight oil if they plan on being agrressive and having a lot of turnover on the team.

Personally, I hope this shortened time period isn't their excuse for more of the 'status quo' that has derailed seasons past.

The pressure is always on, but I know what the article is getting at.

I still think the Cowboys are going to be in pretty good shape. I think they have a pretty good working knowledge of what is going to be put in place, and I am confident that they know what they want to get done and how they want to do it.

Stephen office is right down the hall from Jerry, there is not added pressure than he has had in the past.

I'm not getting my hopes up for free agency. I see another completely quite to non extant one for us. I'd be shocked if we even got Huff who everyone thinks we're getting.

Way to temper your excitement... :laugh2:

I think Dallas will make some moves in FA however I don't think it will be many.

Man understand... Just messin' with ya! I think they'll make a few moves though, safety is a critical need (feels like we say that every year) and I would say defensive line is second most important.

I don't know anything, just guessing here.

But my guess is you'll be pleasantly surprised with the level of activity.

We have a new HC and a new DC. They're going to want some of "their" type guys.

We have some over priced vets just itching to get released that will give us the needed cap space over the next few years to make some 2011 signings.

I sure hope you're right. I just noticed all the typos in my last post. I wish there wasn't a time limit on edits. :laugh2:
