I get bias in sports. I mean, it makes sense. Sports announcers are fans and so a little personal bias is ok with me.

Now, having said that, it's a bit annoying if I have to listen to TV or Radio play by play with the opponents crew because of course its all about their team all game long. But, heck, I can understand it and I wouldn't expect them to change. They love their team as much as Brad and Dave love the Cowboys.

But boy oh BOY, I was in the car driving during the Eagles/Falcons game and was listening to it on Espn Radio. I didn't know who the announcers were at the time, but after looking it up it was Ian Eagle and Boomer Esiason. And I assume it was Esiason doing color.

In short, it was the MOST BIASED color commentary I have every heard in my life. Granted it was the 2nd half, and maybe Esiason was different in the first - HIGHLY DOUBT IT - but it was so obnoxious that I almost turned the radio off on multiple occasions. I couldn't believe how blatantly Esiason was rooting for the Eagles. I won't go into great detail except to say that he only shut up speechless when they missed the FG and on the final intercept - he literally didnt provide color commentary. Every other moment he was talking over and around Ian Eagle (funny name given the situation) and was a constant drool fest over the almighty powerhouse Philadelphia Eagles.

Why on earth would Boomer be such an Eagles homer? Did anyone else get tortured with this broadcast?

If it was ESPN, they want their people to be biased towards certain situations. Chip Kelly ia on their + list.

Thankfully I wasn't subjected to that. Feel for you bro.

And I've never heard of Boomer being an Eagles homer? Seems really odd if true. I wonder if anyone here can confirm he has a reputation for this?

Good point. Wouldn't doubt it.

At some point they'll turn on him if things officially reach meltdown mode in Philly. Media never loses. Must be nice.

I heard them (or at least Esiason, not sure was during p-b-p) doing the Steelers-Patriots opener. Esiason would not shut up about the greatness of Tom Brady. The Steelers would have the ball, Roethlisberger would complete a pass, and we'd hear, "While it's not comparable to the incredible game that Tom Brady's having, Roethlisberger's also doing pretty well." Some Brady mention came up after almost literally every play I listened to. At one point, the p-b-p guy called Roethlisberger Brady. It was sickening.

Yeah, thats exactly how it was about the Eagles' O. Every comment that came out of Esiason's mouth about the Falcons was a comment reflecting the greatness of Philly. The Falcons will lose if they settle for FGs. The Falcons must get a first down because the Eagles O is unstoppable. (almost a direct quote on multiple occasions). The Falcons are exhausted because of the incredible Kelly offense. etc etc etc Every comment was really about the Eagles. And when the Falcons did something good, there was SILENCE.

its rather an open secret that BSPN assigns people to specifically homer for certain teams.

All you need to now was in the promos for the 2 games...8 quarters and 8 stars...you had 7 players for Atl, Min and SF and Chip.

because they figure that keeps things controversial and that gets ratings.

If true it makes no sense. The NFL games stand on their own. We don't need "controversy." That kind of announcing alienates listeners. If I was an Atlanta fan, I would avoid ESPN radio like the plague.

People here constantly bring up articles, podcasts, broadcasts etc... that disrespect the Cowboys. Some people revel in the "they're out to get us" mentality. Besides, there are about 59 Atlanta fans. They do it more for other fans who can get pissed and talk about their biased coverage. Maybe someone will post about it on a message board... o_O

if you were listening to it on espn, I don't think it was boomer since i think he's on westwood one radio network, a cbs affiliate station, but I could be wrong on that...

I was thinking that myself, since Boomer is on WFAN. But I don't know how the official NFL broadcast rights work.

It was Westwood. I associated it with ESPN because of Monday Night football.

I thought Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer were over the top in their `love` of the 49ers in the second game.

I heard the post game after my plane landed in Vancouver. He thinks Eagles are the best team in the NFC East so he has to pimp them big time.
