Here are a few thoughts on that.

1. Dez is great but we still do not know if he can get the playbook down, stay healthy or stay out of trouble. Great talent but there is, at least, some exposure there.

2. Miles dropped more balls last year then Roy did and Roy is gone. Miles has a contract that is probably more friendly to ditch if the team decided that was the way to go.

3. Rice runs as good a routes and catches as well as anybody in the league. That's something that both Miles and Dez could improve on.

4. You know that Washington will be coming for Rice pretty hard. I could see this as a positive move for us. At the very least, we could drive the price.

Why is it a stupid move to get rid of an old mediocre player with a huge ego and mouth? Crayton wasn't bringing this team a Lombardi Trophy last year ... the only thing he would have brought was a sense of entitlement and quotes for the media.

Horrible analysis breed out of pure personel hate of a player for non-football related issues.

Crayton was on the same page age as Romo and outside of Witten, was Romo's safety valve.

I don't blame Crayton one bit for complaining, he outperformed Roy Williams in every meaningful statistic and sense of the word. He was paid woefully less than Williams, who was undoubtedly lesser of a player.

Just look at what Crayton did in San Diego with no training camp or reps to practice with a new QB.

Ironically, all excuses the board apologists gave for Roy Williams.

Great counterpoints. My next objection would the the total cost spent at WR if you sign Rice. I would think it would be a major problem unbalancing the costs per position like that.

Just look at what Crayton did in San Diego with no training camp or reps to practice with a new QB.

I looked. Depsite playing for a team decimated at WR that forced a middling talent like Crayton into a starters spot, and despite playing with a Pro Bowl QB, he put up 28 catches for 500 yards and a ton of media quotes of him running his mouth.

In other words, pretty much the same mediocre production and mouth running what he did every year in Dallas for six years. Which is why no one in the league was willing to give up more than a 7th rounder for him.

I honestly have no idea. I don't know what the market is for Rice. However, sinking cap into a single position is not something that Jerry has ever been reluctant to do. He's done it before. I don't know that he would do it again but I would not put it past him if this is a player they wanted.

No, frankly you are dreaming if you think Crayton was anything close to what Roy could do and had done. NO one outside of Roy haters would make that claim.

I am not in a celebratory mood. Jerry panicked and overpaid for Roy. I wished it worked out. I like Marion, but Jerry paid him as a pro bowl starter.. I like Leonard Davis, but his play declined. Now if they lose Doug Free...

very interesting if true since from everything i've read and heard by cutting or releasing roy williams it will cost the cowboys several million by doing so .. so for a team that is cap strapped that would be a very peculiar move
