I'm a RW supporter business is business. I agree he has never lived up to the contract. I don't feel like I'm eating crow because I supported a guy and things did not work out. That's life in the NFL
This is a great post. I don't blame Jerry or anyone else. It was a move that could have paid off huge...it just didn't work out and like you say, that's life in the NFL.

Why does everyone seem to discount Jason Witten as the 3rd option in the passing attack? Yes, he would make a good 3rd option but not when you're paying him WR1 money. With him at #3, he'll just continue to stunt the growth of the younger guys.

#3 WR's just arem't a big enough factor imo to warrant spending the money or even not trying to develop some youth.

Develop youth and spend some money elsewhere. #3 receiver isn't going to get enough production to warrant any kind of money.

Protect Romo and with all these other weapons we have than the #3 receiver will get an opportunities by default.

You talk about developing youth it is youth with very questionable talent to begin with that is why were were able to get them as UDFA and while every blue moon a guy like Austin makes it the vast majority of UDFA never will because they were not that good to start with. Again I don't think you have to pay an arm and leg to get a WR and there will be vet players out there looking for jobs as teams are cutting caps and signing their draft picks.

When the Roy trade happened, many on this board were ecstatic, including me. I thought he was a perfect fit at the time. It didn't work out, but I'm not going to pretend like he's public enemy number one because he didn't pan out here. Roy really really really wanted to be a Cowboy, but his dream come true turned into a nightmare. It happens. I wish him luck wherever he goes. I aint made at him.

My expectations aren't to develop another Miles Austin. My expectations are to get a young talented guy who is going to work hard and compete to be our #3 receiver.

If it's Sam Hurd as our #3 than im fine with that.

Ogletree or whoever else. Just don't go out and sign anyone.

Receivers are overrated. Just get a good solid group of receivers with a beast of an oline and a good QB.

In a league that throws the ball as the NFL does your about the only one I have heard claim WR are over rated.

It's over rated when you start worrying a lot about your 3rd receiver.

Heck Cowboy fans flip when we don't have an amazing #2 receiver when most of the teams in this league don't have 2 studs at receiver.

We are fortunate to have 2 beasts. Just develop someone to be the #3 thats in house. If you want a vet just give Hurd the minimum and be done with it.

Again, great post.

Although, I will admit to being just a little mad still about that fumble against the Saints......if he'd have just gone to the ground. I do wish him well though. :)

2 WR nothing behind them I don't see any of the top team in the league with that setup. I'm all for upgrading the OL and think we will I also think we will bring in a WR and not rely on 2 guys with nothing behind them but some hope and prayers. As for Hurd he has not done jack, he is a special teams guy that is it.

the only thing that really matters is who do we blame everything on now?

Most of the top teams have elite QB's who are protected so everyone on the offense looks good.

It's not shocking. They've got Dez who they've got to get on the field as much as possible and they needed the cap space.

I'm not shocked at all by Roy being let go. It's a shame though cause it appeared him and Tony were finally clicking last year before Tony went down with that injury.

We actually discussed this over xbox live. Good insightful conversation, too. How are you, man?

Yeah, Uno, we know. You've made your legacy hating on Roy. The only issue I have is I bet if he didn't cost us so much he'd still be here.

But that's not even a point worth making. He is gone. And I can see the good in this cut. I'm still not on board with the L.Davis cut yet. But we shall see.

Galloway trade was worse we really needed those picks. The Roy trade was made somewhat softer when Austin emerged, we got very lucky

But not for Austin, we'd still have RW11 IMO.

Most team have top QB's? What

I agree protection is important and I think we will address that but that does not mean we have to go bare minium at WR and I don't think the Cowboys are dumb enough to do that. GB is not going out with UDFA and hoping they pan out they went out and got WR with talent so this notion just protect the QB and he can make anyone look good is just crazy

#3 receiver is not that big of a deal guys. Just stick a young guy out there.

We need a guy like Amendola or the great from Tech, Welker. But great wiggly guy. That's what we need to exploit the middle. Romo can hit those guys. Crayton was sorta like this. I liked Crayton, too...I saw some great things from him and the same holds true for Roy. But it is a business, although I'll always have fond memories of both.

Back to the topic, someone like Amendola would just be exciting in there. But maybe we go for a big guy with speed who can block. Roy was a good fit, just not for the money.

I don't agree that the 3rd WR is not that big of a deal. It's a very big deal. With the way teams pass anymore that 3rd WR is another starter, just like the nickel corner.
