Garcia in demand
<Mar. 2> The Raiders and Buccaneers have emerged as the early favorites to land Garcia, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The Vikings have also expressed interest in the veteran quarterback, and there's a chance he could end up in Denver as Jay Cutler's backup. If Garcia wants a legitimate chance to start, the Raiders might be his best option. With Aaron Brooks gone, Andrew Walter is the only quarterback on the Raiders' roster. Garcia took the Eagles to the playoffs last year, and even though he's 36, he's done a great job of re-establishing himself as a winner.

Kerney exploring options
<Mar. 2> Kerney will begin his free-agency tour in Denver. If no deal is worked out there, the defensive end will head to Seattle for a visit, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. Kerney opted out of the final two years of his contract with the Falcons to explore his options as an unrestricted free agent. Even though he is coming off an injury (right pectoral muscle), Kerney is one of the top impact players in free agency.

Graham making the rounds
<Mar. 2> Graham is scheduled to visit the Broncos today and the Seahawks later in the weekend, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. The Vikings are also believed to be interested in the free-agent tight end. Gaham is highly coveted due to his effectiveness as a receiver as well as a blocker. He caught 21 passes for 235 yards last season in New England. He has 17 career touchdowns, including a career-high seven in 2004.

Fletcher in Commanders' fold?
<Mar. 2> Fletcher could sign with the Commanders as early as today, The Washington Post is reporting. Fletcher, known as one of the most durable middle linebackers in the league, has spent the last five seasons in Buffalo. The 31-year-old had 101 tackles and two sacks last season.

Joey Porter

Browns?
Browns eyeing Porter?
<Mar. 2> Browns coach Romeo Crennel told The Plain Dealer that the Browns are interested in Porter, who was released by the Steelers in a salary-cap move.
"Well, of course [we're interested]," said Crennel. "Everybody should be interested in Joey, particularly 3-4 [defensive] teams. But along with that, you also have to look at what it's going to cost for some of these guys, and Joey's coming out late [in the free-agent sweepstakes]. He's into it late, so we'll have to see how that plays out and see how he would fit with the team." Porter's productivity tailed off considerably in 2006. Word around the league is that Porter, whose forte has always been his explosive quickness coming off the edge, has lost a half-step.

Dielman set to depart?
<Mar. 2> Although Dielman said he would prefer to stay in San Diego, he knows there is a lot of money to be made on the open market. "It would be dumb for me to not go to free agency," Dielman, a left guard who made $1.573 million last year, told the San Diego Union-Tribune. Dielman and the Chargers discussed a contract extension last year, but talks broke off at the end of November. The two sides are believed to be more than $1 million apart on annual salary. Seattle will be Dielman's first free-agent stop, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Commanders?
Skins pursuing Smoot
<Mar. 2> The Commanders have identified Smoot as one of their top priorities in free agency, according to The Washington Post. After losing out in the Dre' Bly sweepstakes, the Commanders are eager to make a move while there are still some quality cornerbacks on the market. The Commanders drafted Smoot in 2001, and even though he was a free-agent disappointment in Minnesota over the last two seasons, they appear confident he can still play at a high level.

Steinbach, 26, Steinbach was a first alternate for the Pro Bowl in 2005, when he started all 16 regular-season games and a playoff loss to Pittsburgh. He was Cincinnati's second-round pick in 2003.
