Cowboys considering Jarrett
<Apr. 20> One interesting possibility for the Cowboys is USC wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, writes John Clayton. Even though the Cowboys will likely take a defensive back with their first-round pick (No. 22), Jarrett will be in the mix. Jarrett's 4.62 40-yard dash time will hurt him on some teams' draft boards, but the Cowboys aren't as concerned about speed. Michael Irvin didn't have great 40 times but had a Hall of Fame career. A couple years ago, the Cowboys had great ratings on former USC wide receiver Mike Williams, despite bad 40 times. The Cowboys like Jarrett more than Williams.

God I hope not. Jarrett doesn't even have an ounce of Irvin's physicalness.

Im going to tell you something and it's good for you and the rest of the people doubting what Dwayne Jarrett could do.

Compare Robert Meachem, Dwayne Bowe, Tedd Ginn, and Calvin Johnson career to Dwayne Jarrett's and it don't even match up with his. Yeah some of the wide receivers I listed is spectacular but their not as productive as Dwayne Jarrett and productivity is what the Cowboys are looking for. Trust me, a quarterback like Tony Romo is going to make Dwayne Jarrett look like the monster he is.

There are a lot of guys that put up monster stats in college... It's only one part of the equation.

What about Ginn?

A little tonic and a splash of lime and it's not bad.Personally I prefer Grey Goose vodka with a splash of cranberry and a splash of oj..I am not opposed to a splash of Meachem or a twist of Jarret.I'll have no jigger of any Bowe.By golly I could get drunker than Cooter Brown on some Calvin Johnson but just can't afford it.There you have it now go get drunk on your favorite player, but please folks drink responsibly and at least be a pleasant drunk!:D

Did anyone see John Clayton's hair last night on NFL live, it looked like some kid was playing pin-the-tail on the back, or side of his head, it looked like a seriously misplaced rug. I hope the guy's not wearin' a rug because of chemo I'd feel real bad then, but I can't believe they let him get on camera lookin' like that.

That may not be bad because of the rules they play by today, rules they made up because of Irvin. I love how Irvin played, but the NFL just hates it when the Cowboys come up with a way of doing something that's an advantage, but not cheating, and then they take it away. So if Jarrett is not as physical as Irv then maybe he won't get mant OPI calls against us. I say draft Jarrett, I think he'd be good for Romo.:)

Dwayne Jarrett has BUST written all over him, it is good to dominate on the college level but in the NFL you need to be able to get seperation from a defender and I dont see that with Jarrett, on top of the fact you have to ask your self how good is he or was he in a very good system?

Why do you say that? Anything besides Mike Willams?

You think Mike Williams, I think Marques Colston.

I and many others may be wrong about Jarrett. His game may translate over to the NFL. You pays your dollar and takes your chance. There's no guarantee any draftee will make it good. There are less risky picks IMO.

I will be honest, I have gone back and forth between Jarrett, Ginn and Bowe. I really didn't hear much of Meachem until the season ended so he has been a guy I haven't fully studied yet. All three of the above have positives and weaknesses. I can see any of the three becoming excellent players at the same time seeing any of the three be disappointments at the next level. I am still not sure who I would prefer a week before the draft.

In all honesty, right now I have around 6-7 guys I would be happy with in the first round. Right now I am against moving up in the draft (because we would lose our second and I am almost as excited about the prospect we could get in the second round as we could get in the first round) and drafting Aaron Ross. For some reason, I have some severe reservations of taking Ross in the first round. Other than that, I would be fine with one of the WR's, a CB, a safety (Nelson or Merriweather), Maybe a back if the cal guy falls, Branch if he falls, and a couple of other guys. Dallas should have at least five guys to pick who fits their needs at 22.

there are also a lot of guys who put up average numbers and college and were just average players on the next level.
