ESPN Scouts: Team WR Rankings...'boys #8

Why? Detroit had two 1000 yard receivers last year and are adding Calvin Johnson. They aren't doing much else right in Detroit, but their receivers did well last year.

I didn't say they were bad and would not provide any arguments if they were listed from say, seven to ten, but I don't believe they should be ranked above the Dallas receivers at this point. If Johnson proves to be the real deal later this year, then it is a good discussion topic, but Detroit is currently batting .333 when it comes to high first round receivers in the last few years, with two no longer on their roster. Given their drafting history and that it is common for rookie receivers to struggle in their first year in the league, they should move them back a little.

The article asserts that Owens has lost a step or two and that is the very first that i have seen this. He has never been a burner that I can recall and he certainly had the quicks last year to get seperation so Im not sure where this comes from.

I didn't like Charles Rogers as a top pick. I liked Mike Williams, but not after sitting out an entire year of college football. I thought the Lions made a mistake on both. Johnson is a good pick in my opinion. Like I said earlier, he won't have the pressure of being the #1 guy right away. I think most would have been very critical of the Lions if they would have passed on Johnson. I got no problem with them being ranked above Dallas. You never know when T.O. is going to implode or Glenn finds another injury.

The lions were in a no win situation on draft day - pass on Johnson and they pass on a guy widely cosidered to be a once in a generation talent, but draft him and he immediately becomes part of the Lions WR drafting fiasco. I suspect his play will probably put that criticism to bed.

That caught my eye too, typical BSPN garbage!

They are going in with Colston, Henderson, and Copper as their top 3 right?
And Patten, who some insiders say was amazing in minicamp and shocked everyone. Devery henderson is a big play guy, he averaged more yards per reception than any other receiver in the league last year, and by like 3 yards if I remember right, it wasnt even close. He gets the dropsies every now and then though. Meachem has been hurt and fat, we havent seen him at all.

Take it from a Skins fan, Patten is worthless. He and Taylor Jacobs were always the mini-camp studs while in Washington. Then reality and the regular season showed up...

Luckily for the Saints, though, he should never see the field if Colston, Henderson, Meachem, and Copper stay healthy.

I agree. Lost a step? In the game against the Saints, he made a block on the outside that sprung JJ for his long run, and was then down the field and gaining ground pursuing the play. I don't think he has any speed issues!

The only thing I can figure is that they are making a rather broad assumption based purely on his age. I don't see that he has lost any of his ability to get seperation or to get behind defenses. If his hand is fixed now and he can catch the balls that hit him in the hands he should be as good as he ever was.

He could have ran right by julius jones like he was standing still on that play. He caught up with ease and slowed down.

The off-season before we signed him there were reports that he was running a high 4.2/low 4.3 while training. Whatever you think of TO, the man is an amazing physical specimen.

Id have the Cards number 1, on talent
If it was ranking wide reciever tandems I would agree, but since its the whole stable of recievers I think you have to give indy the nod

:hammer:

he had no problem getting behind DeAngelo Hall on a TD

Yea, but if Boldin and Fitz do what they do w/o consistent QB *lay, imagine what they could do in Indy

If they use him on more crossing routes next year he could to* his numbers from last year

Bryant Johnson is a pretty good #3 though, his numbers last year:

40rec, 740yards, 4 TDs, 18.5ypc

let's hope so

I get the gamble by the *atriots 100%, but I dont get why everyone is excited abour Moss like hes still Moss. Stallworth vanishes from games. Welker is solid though, I like a guy who can move the chains.

I would put us at #5. The pats are not that good, Johnson has to show his stuff as a pro, and Denver is flat out not even top 10.
