ESPN: Sources: Romo to have X-rays/does light throwing/sidelined 3 more wks at least

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will have new X-rays taken of his broken collarbone within the next 24 hours to further evaluate whether he will return under center in December, according to team sources.

Romo may have the X-rays taken today at Cowboys Stadium as the Cowboys play the Detroit Lions, a source said. If the X-rays are discouraging, the team will discuss whether he should be placed on injured reserve but a source conceded there was no urgency to make a decision.

Well I've broken my collar bone, the one bone I've broke. And my experience...

I felt it wasn't as serious as it was when it happen...and I waited 3 days to get to a doctor. I was even playing pool with it the very night it happen. The morning of that 3rd day though I couldn't get out of bed without help. Literally gravity was pulling/holding me down to the bed and I couldn't move.

Now on the other side, 4-5 weeks it was completely healed. However, there was a nagging to it for a good couple years following the injury. And especially when it would get cold. It didn't though inhibit me any because of it and the doctor claimed like with any broken bone, that once it heals, it's stronger than it was before because of the calcium buildup or something.

I think it's good that it's on his non-throwing arm. I don't however think it's good that we're heading into December with the cold. Overall though I think he'll be fine and very well could beat the time frame to return. It really just depends on where we are in terms of playoff hopes if he wants to push it.

This season is basically over with another loss. In my opinion you put anyone you can on IR and start picking up some young players at positions that may be thin next year due to free agency. Now, if they somehow win 3 or 4 in a row and that 6th playoff spot gets within reach, then I think you bring Romo back when he is ready.

it's was a six to eight week injury initially, but at best it's eight, not six weeks....all the reports are that it's eight weeks...Arizona game.

Todd Archer stated today Arizona game was the game expected back and why would you risk starting Romo in nothing games this year....Archer also said, that Romo should be on IR to open a roster spot and he doesn't get why the cowboys do some of the things they do, when other teams don't do the same things... very telling statemnet by Archer of this organizations thinking

If there were any opportunity to play for the 6th seed, maybe. But looking ahead I get the feeling that unless a ton of breaks happen the wildcards are coming from the NFC North and South should the Giants or Eagles collapse.

I just don't otherwise see a whole lot of reason rushing him. Maybe the last 2-3 games to give Garrett the opportunity to coach the healthy team.

There is nothing encouraging for me going into next year until the owners and players union sign something.

If this oline hasn't made him gunshy over the past 5 years, this injury won't.
