Sources: Tempers flare as Eagles defend tush push in heated debate

When (Jerry) Jones pointed out potential issues with the play, Kelce said he understood where the Cowboys owner was coming from and agreed on some of the points. Multiple sources noted to Pryor that it was refreshing to hear about a rule and its impact from a player's perspective, and it could lead to more players weighing in on significant potential rule changes.
"Any play that's out of the ordinary gets extra scrutiny because of the competition," Jones told Fowler. "That's the fun part of having these meetings, and here we are -- the world champion is the main focus of the tush push, and here we are debating it and having to decide, 'Am I really against the tush push or do I just want Philadelphia to [not] have an edge?' And I sit there and fight that, too."
Jones acknowledged to Fowler that he tends to "flip-flop" on the issue but added that after watching film with Kelce, he admits that the Eagles' "offensive line prowess is impressive."

I sure hope he's not just now noticing that fact!? The way the Eagles run it, its basically unstoppable.

Great for Philly that they seem to be the only ones who can execute it well.

I just wish the league would be consistent with pretending to care about player safety.

We have to watch weirdo looking kickoffs and pads on top of helmets…can’t hit a receiver or a QB pretty much at all….but a rugby play is fine. All while the rule that you “can’t assist a ball carrier” stood for how long before it was nonchalantly dismissed?

Yeah, in the playoffs last season KC shut Buffalo down multiple times trying to do that play. And that’s with a giant at QB that can run.

There’s no need to ban it

When other teams run it they don’t run it effectively as Philly does

I just wish the defense was able to do the same thing as the offense on that play..... I see there point though...why let the defense have any kind of edge.

I can’t believe this much time and effort was wasted on banning or preventing this play from being banned.

Geezus. LOL.

I am fine with the play, but the rule should applet to both offense and defense. If you can push your teammates on offense, why can't you push your teammates on defense?

How can it be a safety issue on Defense and not on offense?

How is it a players safety issue, when there's been no reputable report of players injured on the tush push ?

That was the injury excuse the whiny packers tried to conjure because like many other nfl teams , they frustratedly simply could not stop it.

If the NFL ascertained the offensive play that most often results in an injury to a player would you agree to ban that play in the interest of player safety? The “tush push” obviously would not be that play. If player safety was the real issue they should eliminate plays that most often result in injury.

You wanna know why much time and effort was wasted on tush push ban vote..?

Becuz that was how much frustration packers and several others had and will be having to deal with the unstoppable tush push again. Instead of spending an offseason counter scheme to finally stop it on the playing field they prefer to stop it behind closed door meetings....

That's the epitome of feeling helpless whiners ,imo.

Exactly. As far as I've read this whole injury concern is just something certain people keep repeating when there's no evidence.
