What? No Santana Moss? No Antwaan Randle El? What the hell? I thought Heismann was a homer... What about James Thrash... Sorry... Had to throw him in. What about Brandon Lloyd? David Patten? Certainly he'd throw those greats into the mix.

He sux!

Who are the best wide receivers in the NFL?

Joe Theismann's Top Five

1. Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts: Nice guys do finish first, as Harrison finally has a Super Bowl ring to go with the myriad of accolades he's deservedly received every year. There aren't many receivers in the league who can terrorize an opposing defense despite their knowing exactly where he's going to be, but Harrison does just that. He plays only the right side of the field and still puts up phenomenal numbers week in and week out.

2. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers: He looks like the prototypical small receiver, but he does things you just don't expect small receivers to do. No one expects a small receiver to run slants over the middle and risk taking vicious hits, but he does. No one expects small receivers to block downfield, but he does. Smith is a terror on the field and possibly the most dangerous threat in the league when healthy.

3. Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals: He's brash, cocky and probably draws too much attention to himself, but he's also one of the best receivers in the league. This is a clear case of a guy putting up big numbers that are ignored because of all the other stuff going on. He wants to be the No. 1 receiver -- not just on his team, but in the league -- and works his butt off in pursuit of his goal. An underrated blocker and route-runner, Johnson is putting in the work to be considered an all-time great.

4. Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams: Talk about underrated. Holt consistently puts up great numbers and is never truly appreciated for what he does. He may be the best route-runner in the league and has turned into a wily veteran who knows all the tricks of the trade. He always seems to be making a great catch in traffic because of his fearlessness and concentration.

5. Randy Moss, Oakland Raiders: There still is no better combination of speed and hands in the league. While Moss has had serious problems in Oakland, those around the league still view him as a dangerous threat as evidenced by Brett Favre clamoring to have Moss on the Packers next season. Hopefully Moss finds himself in a situation where he's happy and motivated again so we can see the guy who destroyed opposing defenses at the beginning of his career.

LINK

*Two words: Crack Kills.

Randy Moss shouldn't be considered top 5.

Quick Question People::

What did Randy Moss do in the last two years compared to Terrell Owens?

Randy Moss is scared of contact so if he feels he going to take a hit, he drops the ball. He's also hasn't been productive in Oakland, so that just might be it, but please don't put him in the top 5 and he didn't do nothing to derserve it.

My Top 5

1. Chad Johnson
2. Marvin Harrison
3. Torry Holt
4. Terrell Owens
5. Roy Williams

DUMB. Moss had 500 yards and 3TDs in 13 games. TO had 1100 and 13TDs in 16 games. The year before TO played only 7 games yet was only 300 yards off and 2 TDs of Moss who played all 16.

Theismann == Schmuck.

Randy didn't even go to the pro bowl and in my opion I think Moss has a worse additude than TO and this is even before TO was with the Eagels.

Moss is a bad joke. The man is in it purely for the money and he doesn't even have the pride to go out there and play to the dollars being wasted on him. He quits on way to many plays and is a sorry example for young WR's everywhere. He coasts by on a worn out rep and couldn't care less how obvious it is.

Owens is a player who actually loves the game and makes an effort to be the best that he can be- his fiery temperament when the team is losing is no different that Irvin's was. He was (and is) way too good to have ever been playing for the Eagles anyway.

The Iggles squirreled him with a lousy contract that his agent should have nixed to start with. Instead the same genius who fouled up Owen's shot at becoming a FA after the 2003 season fouled up again by having Owens take the crummy deal.

McNabb is an over rated cry baby who made Owens a personal target after the SB loss when Owens inferred that McFlab was too tired to make the plays when it mattered during the biggest game of their lives.

Owens should have fired his agent and hired Rosenhaus earlier and the two debacles that have most hurt Owens professionally and how the media continue to portray him would have never happened- and then we wouldn't still be hearing the Eagle Fans whining about it two years after the internally created "implosion" there.

Theisman is sadly mistaken and a very bad judge of character if he believes that Moss belongs on the list. Let the Raiders trade the guy to the Commanders and Theisman will be hating on him by the fourth game of the season.

Owens should absolutely be on ANY list that describes the best WR's playing today.

Sorry for the rant- I fear that I have been around too many Eagle fans for too long.:laugh2:

Dear Joe Theismann:

Please edit your top wide receivers list. I know that ever since Lawrence Taylor broke your leg, a blood clot rushed to your brain, continually causing you to subconsciously convulse and develop amnesia each time you think about anything Cowboys related.

Terrell Owens belongs on the list instead of Randy Moss. Revise it now. Chop chop.

Yours truly,

The Terrell Owens "We Are The World. We Are The Children. We Are..." Fan Club

ps: Hell to the Commanders!

This just shows that Theezman knows nothing about football. TO might have a lot of baggage, but he is still in the top five, maybe even the top three. No way in hell is Moss better at this stage in their careers.

You want TO in the top five? Didnt he lead the league in drops? Id put houshmandzadah above TO for sure and Im sure I could think of a few others as well. Moss doesnt deserve his spot either though.

We draw the comparison because of the "attitude" and "character" flaws of the two.

Who cares about drops... the stat wasnt even really publicly known until all of a sudden... TO lead the league.

LMAO!!!!! OMG, you just said to put whoz yo mama in the top 5, your funny. I watched game in and game out TJ walking around when his team was out of the game. i saw game in and game out he do absolutly nothing. Dont even breathe him in the top 5, top 10, or even top 20.

To may have lead the league in drops, but he still had 13 TD's and 1300+ yards, and 80+ catches. So you tell me, does that mean your good or bad?

and BTW following your logic torry holt doesnt belong there, because he was second in the league with Drop, behind TO

Ok, since some of the players entered the league sooner than others and some have been injured as well, I decided to rank these receivers based on their average per season (16 games) in these 5 categories: receptions, yards, yards per catch, TD's and 1st downs in that order. So, I took their career totals and divided 4 of the categories by the number of their total career games (not games started), then I multiplied that average by 16 (one season) and that total gives you their average per season. Then, I just divided the yards and reception totals to get the ypc category.

Got that? :)

Here's the results...

1. Marvin Harrison - 96 rec, 1,396 yds, 14.5 ypc, 11 TD's and 66 first downs per season.

2. Torry Holt - 90 rec, 1,356 yds, 15.1 ypc, 8 TD's and 62 first downs per season.

3. Chad Johnson - 81 rec, 1,204 yds, 14.9 ypc, 7 TD's and 61 first downs per season.

4. Terrell Owens - 81 rec, 1,186 yds, 14.6 ypc, 12 TD's and 56 first downs per season.

5. Randy Moss - 78 rec, 1,241 yds, 15.9 ypc, 12 TD's and 56 first downs per season.

6. Steve Smith - 71 rec, 1,023 yds, 14.4 ypc, 6 TD's and 44 first downs per season.

If i could have any receiver in the NFL right now it would be Andre Johnson. Hes a beast and that team is horrible.
