He really needs to take the rest of the year off and heal up and get his head straight.

He has not played that many events to begin with. Taking the year off would do nothing to help him get back. Hell he took almost a year off last year

The way Mark O'Meara played yesterday we may end up adding his name to the list. Great rd of 66

The list is just Major winners. Mark did have a great round though. I love to see him and Freddy play well.

Best he can do is enter more events not take time off. Tiger has gone through a complete swing change and you can work on that on the driving range all day long but bringing it to the course is different and playing a handful of events as he does only makes it harder.

I don't fault Tiger for pulling out of the Players it was reported early on that he sustained an injury at the Masters and it was iffy to be able to play in this tournament.

Actually that's a good point you make too...he definitely went through a swing change a few times before and it took him a while to get it together before he started playing well again. Give it some time and see how it goes, I suppose.

I just don't think he can do it taking too much time away from the game. Granted he is dealing with an injury and needs to be sure it is healed and ready to go but beyond that they only way he is going to get things going in the right direction is by playing under pressure of tournaments, I think if he can break this drought his confidence level will return

I trust Tiger when it comes to how many times he plays and what he does with his swing. After all, he's won 14 majors by 35. He seems to know what he's doing. :)

Ultimately he is going to do what he thinks is best. From an outsider point of view this change in swing has lead to the longest drought he has ever had and he has played some very poor golf over that period, hit putting has been terrible Tiger hardly ever missed putts inside of 10 feet now it is become common for him. I hope the best for Woods whatever he chooses to do.

I hear ya, but players go through slumps in every sport, at every age.

No doubt. The hard thing is the longer it last the harder it is to overcome it.

Absolutely. He's feeling the pressure, no doubt. But he is also one of the most mentally strong athletes in the world. If/when he gets healthy, he should be fine.

I hope so. I'm a big Mickelson fan myself but Tiger is great for the game and one of the greatest I have seen play the game. I do have doubt about him being as dominate as he was in large part because of the talent level moving up on the PGA

I don't even doubt him being able to dominate. When he's off his game he's a top 10 player. When he's on, he can still dominate. (See Sunday at The Masters)

Geoff Ogilvy dropped out after one round also. Wonder why?

In the past he would not have missed the short birdie putts at critical moments as he was attemping to come back from 7 down

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing with me, but what I'm saying is that he has the talent to dominate still, but he is slumping. Saturday at the Masters he struggled (C- game) but Sunday he showed a huge glimpse of what he's capable of (not A game, but B game for sure.)

Frankly I don't know what is ahead of Tiger or if we will see the Tiger of old. I have little doubt he will win, not so sure he will win at the pace he was on before. As I said I like Tiger but I think the intimidation factor especially with some of the younger golfers is no longer there.

It's not there when he's playing like this. But it returns pretty quickly if he starts bringing his A game consistantly to the course. "Uh oh, he's baaaack" is what everyone, including the players, are waiting for. He just needs to give them a better reason to believe it, and consistantly good play will do that quickly.

If anyone can Tiger can but again I see great play out of some of these younger guys as well and I think they will only get better.

Right now it is not just his ball striking his short game just does not look great.

We will see how it goes, believe me I’m not rooting against him but his game still looks off by a good margin.

This reminds me of a story I told at work today about Deion Sanders. Once he hurt his toe he lost the one thing that separated himself from the other CB's - speed. Once that intimidation factor was gone, he was just another CB.

Tiger can pull off great shots but then many on the PGA can pull off great shots Tiger biggest problem is his short game it is below avg not just for him but in terms of the PGA. I love the guy but until he gets to a point where he is not missing the 10 foot and closer putts and his chipping improves he will struggle.

Tiger has never been one of the best about putting his drives down the middle of the fairway he is however great at escaping the bad drive with a great second shot and magic on the greens and right now that magic is not there.
