TMZ has video of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo playing soccer.

That's nice.

Romo plays indoor soccer every year. EVERY YEAR. In fact, one year he played with former kicker Nick Folk and current teammate Bobby Carpenter. Romo also plays in a YMCA basketball league. Almost every year.

Players need to stay active in the offseason, whether its playing basketball, flag football, softball ... whatever. There's nothing wrong with it. And before you say, "Well he should be working on his game," Romo does.

You hear the stories all the time about how he throws footballs to teammates and friends in his front yard or last year when he went on vacation he took a bunch of footballs with him to throw on the beach. He's also one of the first guys at Valley Ranch ready to work out.

Romo playing soccer, again, is not a big deal.

I know the original story has been posted but I didn't know anyone actually had problems with this. You know the anti-Romoism has gotten out of hand when ESPN is getting sick of hearing it to the point of defending him.

It is not that bad....Actually, I played indoor soccer before Spring Football practice. It was great to keep you in shape for football. Also, I ran my fastest 40 times when I played indoor before the spring season started...

Seriously dude, unless you played soccer extensively you are clueless about soccer. but Soccer is not conducive to spectator sports. I play indoor
soccer now and man its a tough aerobics workout, far tougher than outdoor. I understand why Romo is doing it for conditioning.

Now having said that, I hate Baseball with same passion that you seem to do on Soccer.

Sure, soccor is a great work out. It takes real athletes to be good at the sport.

Playing soccer if you have no talent must suck. But if you're actually decent it's real fun. And yea watching soccer sucks, if you watch the terrible MLS or Mexican soccer league. But not the World CUP the most exciting sport event in the world.

Back to realty:

Soccer is the most-watched and participated-in sport in the world.

It's a great cardio workout.

It takes a minimum investment (like basketball) to play it.

It has fans who will make mincemeat out of the toughest football fans.

It is regarded as the major sport in most of the world and almost all U.S. schools have soccer teams and almost all modern school-age kids are exposed to it (thus the insecurity showed by most football fans; same way we is insecure about hip-hop -- we don't understand it, thus we aint got no use for it).

And it is fun to play.

And many, many women (wish we had women in the zone who could attest to it) find soccer players sexier and in better shape than our steroids-inflated athlete behemoths in football and baseball. (perhaps another reason many of us hate soccer; we prefer bone crunching to finese)

However, soccer is boring to watch. And the matches last too long. So the sport needs to be reconfigured, at least for po' folks consumption in the U.S. and in Farmers Branch.

Methinks most Americans are intimidated by it for some reason, either because our women love to sneak peeks at the players or we don't understand it or we be just like fred flintstone who enjoys only the sounds of rocks breaking as we do in football and NASCAR. Or we think it is too "foreign" and thus inferior.

Boring sport? Yes.
Popular sport? Oui! Ja! да! ¡sí! sim!
