  1. Dallas Offensive Line
  2. Green Bay Wide Receivers
  3. Philadelphia Running Backs
  4. Indianapolis Wide Receivers
  5. Cincinnati Offensive Line

i

Cowboys offensive line

Projected starters (left to right): Tyron Smith, Ronald Leary, Travis Frederick, Zach Martin, Doug Free

Top reserve: La'El Collins

Quick hit: The Cowboys have been ardent in their investment in the offensive line, and the return has been worthwhile. With an above-average starter at each position last season, Dallas paved the way for the league's most consistent rushing attack. There's a case to be made for Smith, Frederick and Martin as the very best at their position in the league already, and each is just 24. Leary and Free are dependable and tough, while Collins provides a unique upside player who can fill in at perhaps both guard and tackle spots if needed. Smith might be the preeminent offensive building block among non-quarterbacks in the NFL, with incredible athleticism/length and nine years remaining on a contract extension he inked last July.

GB WRs (from ESPN)

Projected top three:
Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams

Top reserves: Ty Montgomery, Jeff Janis, Jared Abbrederis

Quick hit: My opinion is that no personnel executive evaluates a single position better than Packers GM Ted Thompson does wide receivers. The current group features a pair of bona fide stars in Nelson and Cobb, while Adams flashed as a rookie last season. Nelson gets a lot of pub for being a brilliant vertical threat -- and rightfully so -- but he can win at all three levels. Cobb has that rare blend of toughness and after-catch elusiveness (his 6.5 yards after catch per reception in 2014 ranked second among WRs with 60-plus catches), while Adams overcomes average speed with above-average route-running ability. The three reserves listed above have only two career NFL catches, but it doesn't matter. This unit as a whole strikes an uncommon fear in defenses. The best quarterback in football also has the best receiving group.

Philly RBs (from ESPN)

Projected top three: DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles

Quick hit: The Eagles acquired Sproles last offseason for a fifth-rounder, and that proved to be quite the bargain. He provided immediate impact as a pass-catching phenom, constantly creating mismatches in open space. Murray and Mathews came at a heftier price tag in free agency this offseason, but each brings obvious value to the Eagles' backfield. Murray was the best back in football for much of 2015, showing off excellent vision and acceleration behind the aforementioned Cowboys line. Mathews, meanwhile, has the churning leg power to move piles, along with an ability to make defenders miss in the hole. They both come with injury baggage: Last year was Murray's first season staying healthy for 16 games, and Mathews has missed 18 games in five seasons, including 10 in 2014. But the one-two punch should provide insurance of sorts for each other. Philly traded away an extraordinary talent in LeSean McCoy this offseason, but the ground game should keep cooking

Indy WRs (from ESPN)

Projected top four: T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson, Phillip Dorsett, Donte Moncrief

Other notable reserves: Duron Carter, Vincent Brown

Quick hit: The selection of Dorsett 29th overall came as a bit of a surprise, considering the team's well-stocked cabinet of pass-catchers, which includes capable tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener. Johnson, the team's prized free-agent signing, is 34 and averaged just 11 yards per catch last season (2.4 less than his career mark). But playing with Andrew Luck -- the game's best young signal-caller -- should result in a more normal year of production for Johnson. Carter, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter, was a widely targeted free agent coming out of the CFL. And I haven't even mentioned Hilton, the incumbent star in the group, who's among the best deep threats in the league and is in line for a massive new contract -- be it in Indy or elsewhere -- after this season. No team threw for more yards last season than the Colts, and with one of the league's best WR corps, it'd be no surprise if the same held true in 2015.

Cincy Oline (from ESPN)

Projected starters (left to right): Andrew Whitworth, Clint Boling, Russell Bodine, Kevin Zeitler, Andre Smith

Top reserves: Cedric Ogbuehi, Jake Fisher, Mike Pollak, Eric Winston

Quick hit: Surprised? Don't be. The Bengals' offensive line allowed the third-fewest sacks last season, while paving the way for the second most rushing touchdowns in the NFL. Plus, Cincy added a pipeline to the future with its first two draft picks, Ogbuehi and Fisher. Ogbuehi may need a redshirt for medical purposes this season (torn ACL), but if he gets right physically, he'll be the No. 2 behind Whitworth, one of the best left tackles in the game. Zeitler and Boling form an enviable guard duo, while Bodine was an immediate starter as a rookie in 2014 and should continue improving. This group not only projects to be very good in 2015; it should be a standout unit for years to come.
