Why can't there be a 5-yard penalty for an inadverent blow to the head of the quarterback? The 5-yard facemask penalty was done away with in 2008 because incidental contact between hands and the mask is virtually inevitable. There were too many yards being walked off for something that was unintentional and insignificant.

I hate this kind of thinking how about we NOT add more rules and we just stop throwing flags for hits that are clearly incidental contact and not purposely done or done with any intent to harm the other player

The babying of QB's is already at an absurd level theres no need to make it worse

We know most of these 'we have to save the qb' rules are so the offense can put up points and sheep fans can see their big numbers on offense

I'm sorry but I interpret a Fifteen yard incidental face mask call as a way for the NFL and Officials to controll the game both literally plus emotionally.

He was called b/c it was on a QB. I hate the call but like that QBs are being protected. Otherwise we'd be watching scrubs like Jim Sorgi much more often.

And we all need to recall that rules about not getting close to QB's heads have much of their genesis with our former QB.
