Time for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in our series of team-by-team mailbags.
Noah in Lakeland writes: Hey Pat, What's the latest on the status of Aqib Talib? Is he going to get suspended?
Pat Yasinskas: Aqib Talib will start Sunday against Dallas, but coach Raheem Morris admitted this week that the situation still is being examined. I believe that means the Bucs and/or the NFL may take some disciplinary action, but are waiting for the legal aspects of Talib’s off-field incident to play out. I think there remains a chance he could face a suspension at some point this season.
Mitch in Orlando writes: (I’m shortening Mitch’s note a bit, but he leads in talking about the Bucs letting Derrick Brooks and other veterans go in the offseason). For all the moves that have been questioned by pundits everywhere, it seems obvious that the Bucs' front office did the right thing here, and is getting no credit for it. Is it going to take Freeman and Olson panning out before people lay off of the new regime in Tampa?
Pat Yasinskas: Nice to see somebody keeping an open mind. Morris and general manager Mark Dominik have a plan. They’ve taken a lot of heat for their moves, but they’ve made this team younger and they have a long-term plan at quarterback with Josh Freeman. That’s more than the previous regime ever had. Yes, there have been some questionable moves, but let’s see how this plan plays out before making a final call.
Darryl in Brandon writes: On NFL Live last night, Gruden predicted BUCS would win over 7 ganes. Quite interesting.
Pat Yasinskas: Yes, very interesting. Jon Gruden knows most of Tampa Bay’s players well and he also knows Morris’ ability. Gruden might be on to something.
