Good but Dallas was put at a real disadvantage this season. Not only did they get penalized. Their competitors were bribed to go along with it by giving them an advantage. So it wa a double or 30 hit

As the Cowboys and Commanders explore all their options in fighting back against the NFL’s decision to dock them salary cap space for spending heavily during the uncapped year, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is making one thing clear: He thinks everything his team did during that uncapped 2010 season was fair game.

Jones told the Dallas Morning News that while he doesn’t want to get into the specifics of how he might fight the NFL’s discipline, he doesn’t see how the NFL can say now that the Cowboys deserve punishment when the NFL allowed all of the Cowboys’ contracts to go through at the time.

“I don’t want to make our case here,” Jones added. “But all of our contracts were approved by the league and you can’t approve a contract that is in violation of league rules. You can’t even get it on the books if it isn’t in sync with league rules. So you start there.”

Jerry's going up the chain of command. Going to the other owners at the big meeting first. Unless there is some deadline, legal challenges can be done later. However, the threat of legal challenge and the troubles that could bring, are probably good things to mention in those owner meetings.

Sorry man, but I gotta disagree with that statement. Jerry Jones has taken on the NFL on many more fronts than this and flat out taken them to the woodshed. He has gambled a heck of a lot more than a mere 10 million in cap space and come out victorious every time. Like it or hate it, the popularity of the NFL, right now, and it's ability to generate revenue (especially on a team by team basis) can be linked directly to Jerry Jones and his "backbone".

More likely to happen is that this case will go to mediation or arbitration and never see the legal system. As long as they keep it away from the courts it won't cost the NFL anything damaging. And it's in all parties' favor to keep it out of the courts because all are part owners of the league.
