ESPNDallas: Williams frustrated with role on team

Why is it that the players who rarely contribute anything to this team are always the first to run their mouths?

What honestly makes them feel as if they deserve the chance to talk when they don't even bother to show during the games?

It seemed to me that the reason that he got so many balls last week is that the Eagles knew that he wasn't much of a threat to catch the ball or run the correct routes so they eased the coverage on him which gave Romo a chance to find him open.

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/news/story?id=4835467Williams said a few weeks ago he doesn't expect to get released after just his second season with the club.

"Now, next year," he said in late December, "if this is the same thing going on, then I'll be like, 'Oh [expletive], I've got to get my [expletive] together.' But right now, no. It's play ball. I'm good."
This statement bothers the heck out of me.

We do NOT need players on this team with this kind of attitude.

Yeah, I wonder this myself.

I also wonder why players of this caliber don't look at the game realistically from a team aspect. A common sense type response to the questions he was asked would have been that Romo didn't have time to find him and hopefully he can contribute in some way in the future.

It's ummm... really difficult to get catches when the guy throwing you the football doesn't even have time to plant his feet. Duh... and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

The title is misleading as to what he actually said. All the players were frustrated today.

Not to mention the author paraphrases Williams when he should be quoting.

Admit you made a ****ed up decision Jerry and take out the trash. Get rid of it. It's not what you thought it was...

I know its a pride thing, but at some point you just have to swallow your pride and admit you made a mistake.

Its like going to the mall and buying the lastest gadget and when you get home and start using it you suddenly realize it is a piece of crap. Sometimes it happens.

The problem is that Jerry will NEVER admit that he ****ed up.

Sigh.

Umm yeah he will.

Hes admitted to his horrible draft strategies in the mid to late ninties. Hes admitted to not listening to his scouts and coaching staff at once. His hiring of Parcells in and of itself was an admission of a mistake.

There are certain things I loathe about Jones specifically his need for attention. Hubris of the nature youre describing is not a thing I fault him for.

It's awfully hard to complete a pass when your QB is laying on the turf. Nice job O Line .... 6 sacks.

To an extent, JJones does usually come out and say he is wrong. However, since Williams is still on the roster, I wouldn't think it would be too smart or beneficial at this point to admit his failures in making the trade for him.

After next season though, I think the gloves come off.

We're frustrated with you too Roy, maybe if you caught have the balls throw to you and didn't suck they'd look your way more often

Garrett is a dud.

Cant get the ball in Roys hands at least once. Romo is half the problem. He was drawing to many secret 5 yard curls with Witten in Minneapolis Hotel on Saturday night.

best blocker at his position just like Barber. Jerry is paying 90 million dollars combined for a blocking wr and a blocking rb.

he hasnt been blocking well lately at all

If you are going to pay a guy that kind of money, you absolutely have to throw him the ball more then 1 time during the game.

As Roy Williams stated, he was being manned by Antoine Winfield, though he is physical, he is small and I would have like to have seen some quick throws to Roy Williams to see if he could take advantage of the size difference.

"I didn't get a ball today, and I didn't get a look at today. It just happens," Williams said. "It's frustrating. It pisses me off, especially when we lose and especially when I feel like I have a mismatch. I got a 5-10 corner [covering me, Dontonio Wingfield], but hey, you know, I will continue to work hard in the offseason and it will come back around."

I'd be pissed off too if that guy was covering me and they didn't throw me the ball.

I stuck up for Roy quite a lot this year, but at the end of the year I have to look back and say that he was pretty sucky and played himself out of the playbook for the most part.

I'm going to let this one go for now because he talked while he was pissed off after a loss. Players should never do that cause it tends to make you run your mouth further than you actually want to cause you're pissed off about a loss.

I still think Roy has talent to contribute to this team. He may not be worth the money he's being paid, but since the Cowboys are paying him, why not incorporate him into to the offense? Nothing else was working. I realize Romo had trouble getting the ball out and that was a really big factor, but he found Witten, his security blanket often enough.

In the offseason, the coaching staff needs to have a sit down with Kitna to find out how best to utilize Roy Williams talents. Romo and Roy should be included in this meeting. Kitna was able to get Roy the ball with ease on a lousy team with hardly any talent. Surely he can help Romo understand the best situations to go to Roy. Completely ignoring Roy certainly isn't working.
