Analysis: Cornerback, defensive line and tight end are among the positions Dallas could look to address this offseason, and depending upon how the DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant contract situations turn out, running back and wide receiver could also become priorities. If the Cowboys can keep only one of those guys, Murray is likely the odd man out as the 27-year old running back. Gordon's running style and skill set is very similar to Murray's as a workhorse who runs hard, gets from zero to 60 in a flash and displays great vision and patience as a runner, which would make him an ideal replacement. He isn't great in the passing game but showed some improvement at it this season. This pick would break the two-year streak of no running backs being drafted in the first round

Tight End??? I'd draft a DL, CB, S, LB, OT and RB before I'd do that.

Just means they don't really know the rosters of all the teams they cover.

No really Idgit, I think there is a borderline consensus out there that Witten only has a year or two at most and that Escobar is not starter quality.
Whether we agree with that or not, is another story altogether.
But those that know our roster just fine also think TE--if the right one is there at some point in the draft--would be worthwhile. I'm sure they don't mean the 1st round.

Maybe. I think we've got three pretty good ones, and a good coach.

Can't imagine what people have seen from Hanna or Escobar to make them think that either can't play. It's a simple case of being buried behind an all-time great player.

I mean, I know some of us here at CZ complain, but that's mostly because we spent yet another #2 on a TE who won't get in the lineup. When the guys are in there, though, they produce.

Dallas needs a back up QB, RT, and WR more than a TE.

I concur with McShay about the dline but he needs to rethink his assessment about the team needs.

The Cowboys take Gordon with Collins and Gurley on the board?
No way.

I agree.
Honestly not sure they would take Gordon even if those two weren't there. But they may be higher on him than I am.

Most of those draft games (ex. First-Pick has it DE, DT, CB, TE, FS) or scouting sites tend to agree with him. it doesn't make them all right though.

I don't think the Cowboys would draft Gordon over Gurley. If they draft a RB in rd 1 I think its Gurley. In this situation my order of preference would be Gurley, La'el Collins, trade down, OO. I like Jay Ajayi just a hair less than Gordon and he could be had with a decent sized trade back and pick up the extra 3rd.

I just love how all the recent mocks show the Iggles staying at #20 since nobody will trade with poor Chippy.

Can't wait to see him slither back to college after next year.
