x-Axis: Double team/chip %y-axis: Performance when not doubled

Myles Garrett is an animal. He should be the highest paid DE.

Parsons is the closest to him though.

BTW.....sounds like when we had him

This is exactly what he did for us but too many fans chased the red herrings laid out by Jerry to the point they convinced themselves that Micah was borderline bad.

There’s really nothing you can do to convince them though. Their argument will devolve into “Garrett is better”, as if that is an argument that Micah sucks

Garrett deserves the 188 million
Garret is the better overall player but he’s turning 30 in a couple months. I’m sure he’ll still produce for years to come but an athletes prime is usually considered to be that 27-29 range. Micah isn’t even there, and with a contract you’re ideally paying for future performance, not past.

Micah is the best pass rusher in a vacuum but his size does cause wear down both on a game to game basis but also over the season. Regardless of comparisons, guess who leads the league in sacks? The guy on the same line, opposite of Parsons. Gary has never had more than 9.5 sacks in his 6 prior seasons. He’s at 4.5 after only three games now. Teams simply can’t ignore Micah so Gary is gonna get to feast all season, kinda like how the Dallas defense did when Micah was on the field.

Gary was a beast prior to Micah getting there. But yes the whole defense benefits from Micah.

And Myles is older but I’d pay him the extra 7 million if he asked for it. He’s a true generational talent.

Micah is a great talent for sure

Agreed. Loved Micah and he’s a hell of a player.

I just don’t think he does what Watt and Garrett do in clutch time

The problem was that his talent was spread too thin, which made it hard for his impact to make a significant difference. With the trade, they are now exposed, lacking talent, leadership, and direction.

Bottom left is the sweet spot on this graph, but I was never good at maths.

Four GB players with solid ranking, scary. Cowboys pass rush can't win one on one, so Flus has to blitz and play man coverage win or lose with no conscious.
The Cowboys pass rush relied on Micah getting doubled so that the Sam Williams of the world could actually make an impact. They got rid of the guy who opened up the options and now the dudes who relied on Parsons are struggling to actually contend one on one.

Didn't Micah already say he thought Garrett was the best edge rusher in the NFL?

But there is no doubt these two guys are the best by far. Look at the double team rates of both players, People who know football know how important this statistic is. Parsons has one of the highest double team rates, which has been true since he entered the league, and he still has the most pressures, and is near the top in sacks. Fans cheering his trade have no idea how much he effects offenses. It is a crazy form of denial. But I am sure they are certain Jerry Jones will draft two all-pro players with those late first round draft picks because Jerry is an expert at evaluating talent.

Look at the Cowboys edge rushers. near the bottom in double teams and also near the bottom in s effectiveness against single blockers. Ezeiruaku, Williams and Fowler are all almost completely ineffective as pass rushers.

I can see where this team will be better in the playoffs.

Exactly, losing Micah is the equivalent of losing CeeDee on offense. Imagine ppl saying the Cowboys are better without CeeDee, yet that's what we hear about Micah.
