I have seen. KC Joyner has some interesting ways to look at them but there are too many holes and too many areas he over looks.
IF you are looking at CBs you need to rate them as how they did against other WRs by type and grade of WR. Good, bad, great, etc; speed guy, YAC catch guy, slot guy, etc. And you need to factor in Pass Rush. Ask our guys what it was like having to try and cover someone for 5-6 seconds like we used to have to do. And then the QB who is throwing the ball; and what kind of protection he gets- that goes one in one with the pass rush. And to top it all what kind of safety help does our CB get- bad (Roy) good (Hamlin).
Now as regards WR. First you classify them as what type. Then you look at how they did against CBs (Joyner does a decent job there, but still too limited). Then you factor in what kind of QB they have. How good is his protection. What kind of passing attack (West Coast, etc).
And then for both cases you have to evaluate what situations the WR and CB are put into- does their team lead a lot of games in the 4th so that the CBs get easy picks, etc. Does the WRs have a running game that forces the D to worry about it as much as the passing game?
Frankly unless you take ALL OF THIS into account how can you really evaluate them well?
