The first 5 CBs are pretty much well set: TNew, Henry, Pacman, Jenkins and Scandrick. That leaves one spot open for Ball and Oglesby to compete for on the roster.

LOL, Scandrick is already assured a roster spot over Oglesby?

A fifth round pick over a guy who has been in the defense for a year now.

You must have heard some good things on him from the rookie minicamp huh.

LOL.

I doubt the team spent a 5th round pick on a guy that wasn't likely to make the roster from the moment they drafted him.

Oglesby was undrafted and can, at best, hope he'll bounce around on NFL rosters for a few years. We had Nate friggin' Jones ahead of him all last season. That speaks loud and clear.

Oh... LOL.

Understand that Cowboys really like Alan Ball. That's why they moved him from the PS to the roster; he saw action for the first time in our last game of the season against the Skins. Will be interesting to see whether Ball or Oglesby wins that 6th CB job; read a few weeks ago that Wade said we'd carry 6 CBs this year. Considering that Anthony Henry's contract expires after 09 season, it's probably wise for the Cowboys to carry 6 at this point--particularly if they really like that 6th player.

Yeah, you're right as usual. LOL.

Every 5th round draft pick that has ever been chosen has always been assured a roster spot. LOL.

Especially the one's who are being drafted by a 13-3 team, LOL.

You should try to read your posts and then think about them for a second before you hit that 'submit' button, you really should bro. LOL.

I would imagine both Scandrick and Ball have a better chance of making the roster than Oglesby, even if the team thinks Oglesby is better right now. It's like Parcell's said, sometimes at the bottom of the roster you have to let go of the better player and make room for someone who has more potential. I think both Scandrick and Ball fall into that "more potential" category.

Having experience doesn't always mean you are better. You are defending a guy that has amassed a total of 21 tackles, 3 passes defended and 0 interceptions over a three year span. He couldn't even beat out Nate Jones last season.

He will never be anything more than a special teamer and we can find those anywhere. Scandrick, from what I have read, has the ability to be a starter or maybe even a superstar cornerback.

Lack of physical ability and potential is what will do Oglesby in.

My crystal ball says one or two of our DB's will be traded to a team like Cleveland or Miami during training camp..

5th rounder we traded UP to get. LOL.

He's making the roster. LOL.

He has more upside than Oglescrap. LOL.

The same Oglescrap that couldn't get playing time despite an injury depleted, talent needing secondary. LOL.

I'll bet you anything he makes the roster. LOL.

Vinnie2u-- I hope that you are correct regarding trades.

The competition in camp will be intense, and tough decisions will need to be made at the CB & WR positions especially. Hopefully the coaching staff is able to make quick decisions regarding those players that will be retained, and are able to arrange trades for draft picks rather than simply cut talent that will surely be added to other rosters.

It's reasonable to believe that Scandrick will make this team over EO based solely on his potential impact on special teams, which is highly regarded. The guy is a legitimate threat to block FGs and punts. This is a rare weapon, and his 5th rd draft status won't diminish his chances one bit. Our recent history of retaining almost all our draft choices should tell us something. I'll buy season tickets to the local succer team if Scandrick doesn't make the squad.

The Cowboys scouts had Scandrick as a 3rd round talent, so they would have to miss badly on him for the guy not to make the team.

Why don't you try to actually read the posts first?

I said "likely," not "assured."

LOL.

And don't forget:

The same Oglesby that was passed over for a ROOKIE SEVENTH ROUND PICK for playing time. LOL.

Actually its the other way around. Take your advice before you give it. Scandrick has more upside than Oglesby who's been in the league for 3 years and can't even solidify the 4th corner spot.
edit: LOL
