Even if the Cowboys rattle off 3 or 4 wins...

...I'm still worried.

Just my rant but anytime a new boss takes over, employees are all on their best behavior and give their maximum effort regardless of if it's a football team or a restaraunt. To me, many of these players have already shown that they are not true champions. They gave up. No matter what happens from here on out... they gave up.

There are 2 sides to coming out and beating the Giants the way they did last week. The positive is they won. The negative is they had it in them to play that way the first 7 games but didn't want to.

To me, too many of these players are not self motivated. They don't want to do what it takes to be world champions. Anyone can see the difference between the way Dez plays the game and the way others play. It's attitude.

I feel the longer a coach stays, the less effort a lot of these players will give. So to me the problem is not the coach as much as it is the players. The coach has to hold these guys accountable. They have to know every game that their jobs are on the line. And from time to time there has to be blood on the walls. Someone has to be cut or benched. And I don't mean a 3rd stringer.

Unless there is a complete player overhaul this offseason, I don't see any other way a coach can be successful with these guys.

Teams have players with different personalities. Although it would be great to find the self-dedication and motivation of an Irvin or a Dez (it's still too early to tell because he's a rookie and the "excitement" of being in the NFL hasn't lost its early flavor) in every player with talent, it's just not possible. A successful head coach finds the right buttons to push in players who aren't like them. Sometimes there are talented players who are fat and lazy, or whatever negative term you can come up with, and no matter what you do, they don't seem to respond. Those are the type of players you have to weed out and replace. A guy who doesn't have as much talent, but works hard every day so that his talent shows up more often, can be better than one who has more but rarely uses that potential.

So Dallas is supposed to rebuild the entire team? Give me a break it is the coach’s job to get the most out of these players any way he sees fit. For those who do not buy into the program then cut them but to make whole sale changes will accomplish nothing only set the team further behind. There is legit talent on this team and it is Jason job to get them to play to their potential

I just think there are too many of "those" players here. Which is my point. Even if they win 3 or 4 or more in a row, I don't think any of the problems are solved. I think management has to weed thos guys out as soon as possible. There is the need to motivate, sure. But the quit on this team was at a whole different level. That's my worry.

All i care about is finishing ahead of the skins and we can do that

I didn't say the whole team. In fact I didn't give a number at all. I said there are too many that quit. You saying it's the whole team is you're own freudian slip. But there are too many.

Well, you kinda did say the whole team. Here is what you wrote, maybe you made the Freudian slip...

You said a 'complete' player overhaul. Does complete not mean all? Does complete mean partial? I'm just asking.

OK Here's the deal, your OP and premise is almost completely useless/pointless.

This team has 7 games left in 2010. 7 GAMES!

That plenty to figure out what we have and where we're going.

Are you saying you hope we lose to insure a total house cleaning?

That's beyond moronic.

This is what any fan should be hoping for these next 7 weeks.................... if for no other reason than we don't know anything for certain. Least of all who or how many players we have here now we can win with or if Garrett is the right guy.

Once you except this simple fact, you're rooting interest should be clear.

And that's for Garrett and the Cowboys to win as many games as possible.

This will provide proof positive that we have enough of the right players and that Garrett is the right coach.
And give us a lot of momentum heading into 2011.

We will not need to turn over the whole roster and focus on the areas of obvious need.

Face it folks, we aren't going to replace half the starters, nor could we even if we wanted. It would be a huge step back. Do people really think that half the team (or more?) suddenly went from playing very well and being on the verge of becoming a Super Bowl quality team to a bunch of lousy losers in one offseason? Sure we need some changes, but not nearly the wholesale changes some seem to think. An upgrade in4-5 spots coupled with a change in coaching and philosophy can get us headed in the right direction nest year.

do you really think people at any job would give good effort if there is no fear of punishment or being fired?.......at any job with 100 employees if that fear isnt there and they all know they can do what they want they will, maybe not all but it only takes a few to throw a system out of whack....its natural......and over time it effects your performance of said company....so when their number is called they cant perform because they didnt prepare to......take same group with a real leader and consequences and you get different results.....

i think the real question is will Jerry allow Red to do what is needed....if not then it doesnt matter who the coach is....same results

I agree with you. This has been my worry since the 2008 debacle. I often wonder if Micheal Irvin were to join the team next year, how many of these current players would be on his "don't care about winning list".

I think we have way too many players that are just happy to be rich and famous and winning takes a back seat to that. All you have to do is see the lack of effort some of the players give after they get their big payday. Barber, Hamlin, even Ware and the list goes on.

I don't buy into...it's the coaches job to get them to want to play and win. Players who don't want that all on their own, shouldn't be with the Cowboys. If there are, say..... 12 of thos guys on the team. 12 of those guys need to be gone. There is no doubt that there are quitters on this team.

Where did you get that I want them to lose? I never said that and it never entered my mind. I hope we win. But I don't think wins necesarily fix the problems. I think there are quitters on this team that will always be quitters. I think the quitters are in hiding right now and are putting there best foot forward and will probably continue to do that for a few weeks.

I stand by what I said. If the players that quit, quit once, they will quit again. It's just a matter of time. Those guys need to be gone.

Exactly. I think it's too much of a coincidence that they played the way they did with a brand new head coach. It ticks me off that they showed everyone how well they really could play if they really wanted to.

And there are plenty of highly engaged, highly motivated employees. The ones that do as little as possible when no one is watching need to be gone. They will eventually burn the organization.

I just listened to the Legend's Show on the Dallas Cowboys website, and Ed Too Tall Jones & Nate said the same thing. Nate said that the players that quit on the team will revert back to their old behavior. But, they both believe that Jason is on his way to building something good.

I don't know but after Romo went down, my Cowboys worries during 2010 kind of went away. During the remainder of this lame duck season, my attitude is to just relax and hope for some enjoyable games and Ws. My worrying will start again once the offseason begins or if by some amazing turn of events they become relevant again this year.

Enjoyable things worthy of noting that have happened:
- bye bye Wade
- Dez spectacular
- win over the Giants (my superbowl)
- JG showing promise
- win over the Giants!!

A voice of reason! However, your post may be too logical for some...
