Even if the pick is good, the pick is bad.

we have 3 first rounders on that OL and a 3r rounder. all drafted within the last 4 years? is this not enough? how much we need?

btw we have dak throwing to an undrafted dude, a 6th rounder and 7th. alongside Lamb and tolbert.

LOL
Agreed it's totally ridiculous. Especially when the team doesn't use free agency. You can't ignore the defense like this

4th best OL in the draft at pick 12. If that's not laughable I don't know what is.
Ratings based on what??? A silly bald 50yo fat guy with a computer that watches 10 college games a season….. Mo Claiborne was also the No.1 ranked DB in his draft year and how did that ranking end up for us?

You can if that's the way the draft is going. It comes down to who you believe has better upside - we were in need of a guard and having a DT would also be nice. Our scouting team believes Booker has higher upside with a position we needed. It's as simple as that.

This is really just not a good draft for first round talent. There is going to be a lot of high ceiling guys in the second and third this year. Most of these first round players would slide into the late 20s or even early seconds in any other draft year. Sucks, but the entire league is having to wade through this.

The Cowboys are building a OL for a dominant run game. This has been a clear message from the first day Schooty was hired.
And, best of all, if they follow through with a quality RB, it will be the first time in awhile that a head coach has not only said they had a plan, but also got players to execute.

I don't really see what your point is. You need good players, period. If you don't acquire good players on defense, your defense will stink. There were excellent defensive prospects available. This is why our defense was putrid last year and it's going to be to be putrid again.

....we took what we think is a good player. I don't see how my point was missed? We have a need at guard, we got who we believe will be a good player to plug in at guard. We ranked that player higher than the DTs. Hae you actually evaluated the players in the first round? Like actually watched some games? There was no surefire player where we were picking, they all have holes to their game and that includes who we picked. There is a question about his athleticism, but go watch some tape on the defensive players. They aren't exactly screaming all-pro material with certainty.

People don't hear what's said, only what they want. Maybe now they will.

They mentioned a couple of times in presser how strong Philly's DL is. This pick is a direct result of commitment to a style of play and to begin to put a team in field to compete with the Eagles in the trenches.

I hope fans are happy because I don't want to hear how it was the defenses fault for being gashed by the run. They choose to give Dak more time to pat the ball than drafting a DT.

After all of these years, Jerry has and never will learn a thing. You win with great QB play, there's no getting around that. And Dak is just average at best at that.
This is a terrible QB draft, Ward would not even be top 10 most years, nobody wants to even bother with Deon’s boy, and everybody else is projects.

This ain’t the year to be drafting QBs, nobody in this draft is better than Dak.

I think Booker was a stretch but I would rather they build in the trenches then draft a RB or WR in round 1. For me they MUST address DT next.

The draft is deep at RB, WR, DT.

The draft is weak at Qb, OL, LB.

You can get Booker now, then possibly snag Luther Burden and DJ Giddens tomorrow.

The issue with the draft being one day is everyone panics when they hate the pick.
Yeah, I like Burden, but Bech is my guy. This was a brilliant pick. Like, no lie. It'll take time to convince some fans. But they'll become believers in due time.

It's true. The best oline won the SB last year.

This is definitely one of the best 2nd round players that the Cowboys have taken in a while.

The fact that they took him in the 1st round is a minor detail.
You truly believe that? This guy is a legit first round player..
.

The best oline won the Superbowl last year.
The best all round roster WON the Superbowl.
Boys are not one year away free a SuperBowl,
Agree
but you can start with the trenches.
When you've got the number of holes/weaknesses that we have, and the draft value is in the depth,(IN THOSE VERY AREAS), we had the option to raise the floor of the roster quality (over and above a very good RG)
If they could have traded down for anything worthwhile, they would of.
Not necessarily true, Jerry's a business man and he hasnt got an imaginative footballing brain. He'd see the basic Trade Vale Chart and see the 'worth', purely in qualitative/chart figures.
Predicting the way Jerry thinks he'd want a win akin to the (approx) 70pts OVERPAY, on the Giants/Texans deal for the Giants going up 9 spots (albeit there's a tariff on trading from 2nd to 1st RD).

I get that McClay is a legitimate, professional NFL talent analyst and media rankings aren't based on the depth of his scrutiny.

My criticism isn't even really based on the player's ability but on the difference between how the Cowboys rated him versus the rest of the league.

Seriously, how many teams rated Booker as the 12th best player available? If the Cowboys didn't select him then where would he have landed as far as picks?

Given the choice, would Minnesota have taken Booker over Donovan at #24? Booker's average ranking is somewhere around #30. I have seen him at a high of 17 and a low of 53 but not close to #12.

The Cowboys needed help in other places and could have picked a CB or DT that was closer to teh value of pick #12.

It's as if the Cowboys voluntarily decided to wait until another additional dozen teams made their selections.

As usual, the Cowboys threw value in the trashcan.
