Even If Zeke Reports, It May Not Make Things Better

I'm brainstorming here...

Jerry keeps referring to what a great boost Zeke will give the team if he reports mid-season and starts playing; saying Zeke will be fresh.

August 28th: "We've got a marathon here," Jerry Jones said. "We want Zeke when we get to the playoffs. We want Zeke when we're in the dog days of this season. ... A fresh Zeke, if we got to the end, would be great."

Basically, Jerry is counting on Zeke being a major force if he reports to the team week 10 of the season (which would allow him to accrue a year of service toward FA) and tears through teams in the playoffs.

......EXCEPT.......

We all know how contentious this holdout/negotiation is becoming, so I'm thinking that even if Zeke reports, he won't necessarily play; and if he does play, who knows how hard he'd actually try.

Zeke may very well report before week 10, practice for a couple days, and then sustain an "injury". To my knowledge, a player in Zeke's position doesn't actually have to PLAY in the games. He just has to report to the team.

Things are becoming personal, and Jerry is recently letting his true feelings be known. Zeke is immature and entitled and being advised by unreasonable agents. So, this thing could take a turn for the worse - even if Zeke does come back.

Do we know anything about the contentious feelings between the team and Zeke?

If so, please list them out and their sources.

At this point we know only speculation from the press and Jerry trying to negotiate the English language in a way no one understands.

Zeke needs to come now. This guys can break so many records. He should just bet on himself and play . If pollard becomes a steal, zeke will be traded. I see it happening. Jerry sounding pissed

If he reports without a new contract (like Donald) this week they will play him about 10-15 carries. I hope we pick up a RB after cuts and make Elliot earn his way back to the start. If we picked up Ajahi and he is running to daylight then let Elliot set for a piece.

It could certainly be a silver lining. Especially with what looks like a bit of a distended schedule in the back half. But the forecast is pretty cloudy. This team plays so many close games that even though it will be interesting to see what they look like without him Im not sure they can afford such a self inflicted wound.

So Zeke---whose ultimate goal is to maximize his next contract--is going to intentionally play less than his capabilities? How does that help him?

If Zeke comes in week 11, he'll fake an injury and get put on IR. Jerry will have a coronary, or a Corona.

If he's back under his current contract at that point expect some "business decisions" on his part.

If he sulks and plays poorly he loses the chance for a huge payday.

Zeke can't wait til week 10.
He will almost certainly face a week or more of exempt status.
Week 8 is the last week he can realistically believe he can report.
Week 6 is far more likely and his last 100% safe date.

There going to double Coop and Blitz panic Dak all game long as Pollard is no Zeke!
We await our warriors statements on the field......

If Zeke loses arbitration from the Cowboys challenging his "injury", he doesn't accrue a season. If he wins the arbitration, or the injury simply seems suspect to other owners, he'll cost himself a ton of money on the next contract.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Jerry is an optimist. The potential of Pollard really changes things, not just for this year, but the future. Jerry may want to see what Pollard has before committing to Zeke now.

If Jerry holds his position, Zeke will agree to the new contract when he shows up. It would seem stupid to show up week 10 to accrue the season towards free agency and play under his current contract. He would lose millions as opposed to signing the second best RB contract out there.

What’s he going to do, sit out the next season till game 10 again! Coming no in at game ten only helps if you sign your new offer or if free agency is imminent, which it is not.
