I recently participated in a poll that asked this: who are you more frustrated with - Players, Coaches, or Owner? After I responded without much thought, and looked at the results (after having thought hmmm no choice for GM), I then thought about the makeup of the team. For some reason, I did pick "the Players" as my choice, mostly because I had just woken up, and had images of injured LVE on the sideline, and hobbling offensive linemen. Just because its injury, doesn't mean I can't be frustrated.
Then I started thinking about yes, I am also frustrated with coaching, like most of the poll respondents said.
But hold on, that's a different whole point. Here's my main point - when the draft rolls around, there is no position that we are good at on defense. By the way, we are only good at two positions on offense. Our preseason positions of strength (OL, DL, LB, CB?) are no longer.
So, some of this mess has to fall upon talent eval or team makeup (i.e. spending low on safety &DT). Coaching decisions decide who is actually on the field (aging Witten), but GM decides to have Witten on the roster in the first place.
The team needs a huge dose of talent, is my main point. An adjustment needs to be made at the talent value process for some positions such as Safety and DT. Then at draft time, we need everything on defense, and everything but RB and QB on offense. Looking forward to whatever changes accomplishes that.
