would have to agree, if they lose to a team who just fired their HC and GM, who is missing their entire receiving corp, just benched their QB a week ago, after getting their best LB back and having 10 days to prepare, he should be canned by days end.. right? They should.

I do!

I’ve been on record as a Garrett-backer. If we lose to this dumpster fire of a team, Garrett will not get fired after the game, but he should be at season’s end.

No more excuses because said player(s) was out. No more good season followed by a mediocre to subpar season. If we lose, and then eventually lose out on playoffs, get rid of the staff (defending COTY or not) and do some homework on a bonafied head coach that knows how to manage and win!

I am not a huge Garrett Fanboi but totally disagree.

I would not be surprised if the Giants bounce back. Several of the players did not like McDooDoo and quit on him several weeks back.

Garrett went 5-3 after Wade went 1-7. Do you think 5 teams fired their HCs? Or should have?

The Giants once lost to a Dallas team that was on the road and had just fired their HC and didn' have their Pro Bowl QB.

Any given Sunday folks. Dallas needs to win out but the Giants won't lie down.

Maybe.

But the reality is this. Dallas, even with its flaws, is a better team than the Giants right now. And the Cowboys are supposedly as healthy as they have been in weeks. And they are still very much alive for a playoff spot.

If this team goes into Met Life and spits the bit against a horrible Giants team, that's a direct indictment on this coaching.

I've left open the possibility that this team can make a playoff run and in doing so, I'd refrain from criticizing Garrett this offseason. But if this team loses to a crappy Giants team that has holes and injuries all over its roster essentially killing any playoff hopes, there is no more leeway from me.

Its over. Cut him.

You're probably referring to me in the abstract. And I wouldn't necessarily agree, no.

Remember though, I don't consider Garrett's tenure to be teetering on the edge like most of you do, and I never have.

There are circumstances where I could see a loss to the Giants spinning the season out from under Garrett and that precipitating his firing. It'd have to be something pretty unique, though.

It's academic, because I don't think we'll lose this game unless we turn the ball over multiple times more than they do, and we're pretty good at not doing that when we've got our protection in place.

Collectively, you guys have way too big an axe to grind over a coach that wins a fair number of games and has put some pretty good teams on the field in recent years. He's really not in the hot water you all want him to be in. Deep down, you know that I'm right, and I think that contributes to a lot of the frustration, too. You're stuck with a dude you hate because he wins enough games and his bosses really like him, so you look for extreme things to happen to justify a coaching change.

Good luck with it. I happen to like limits on my chaos. Just fix the defense for me finally, and let's see how the rest of the team we've got right now can perform.

I'm no fan of Garrett but fans get so obsessed about him it's ridiculous. He has in reality a small role and modest impact on the team

The defensive, offensive and ST coaches run their respective units. The unit coaches have much more impact in reality.

Garrett's role is this and only this:
-Modest input on draft decisions (very small role)
-Clock management
-Some game decisions like to go for it on 4th down...go for FG/punt
-Motivation, chemistry, tone
-Running/coordinating some team meetings, macro-level practice decisions
-Maybe calling for a trick play
-Perhaps over-riding a coordinator
-Some disciplinary issues but Jerry can over-rule
-Clapping

Jason has very limited impact on the team with the way things are structured in Dallas.

Can't disagree that Dallas is the "better team". All these games are must wins so they have to show up. That is on the staff AND the players.

Curious though, if this team wins out and makes the playoffs, will Garrett receive any credit for it? That isn't specific for you but for all the folks on the board (Pro Garett, Anti Garrett and indifferent).

I think, in this thread, we witnessed the dawn of the "win or you're fired" era. Romo spawned the "win or go home" era.

I don't know how this plays out but it's gonna be fun.

Garrett's job is safe no matter what majority of fans think. Jerrah will carry that 2016 coach of the year label for at least 2 more seasons no matter what.
Why is everyone so sure of this? Literally not a single one of you can say you know f or sure he's safe, unless you've been hanging out with Jerry, which none of you have.

Emphatically agree. 13-3 last season...and 6-6 despite the many storms this ship has sailed thru.

Am I satisfied? Delighted? Of course not. But fans around here act like we've had three straight 5-11 seasons.

Again...I don't give a flying rat about Jason or his future with the team. The reality is that whomever is coaching this team...within a year or two fans will be whining endlessly about him and his decisions. The only thing--the ONLY thing that will stop the teeth-grinding would be a 51-0 Super Bowl win. That would give a coach about 6 months of quiet.

It's almost like this is a place where people give opinions, or something.

My opinion is based on my interpretation of how people in the organization speak of or defend Garret when the wagons are circled. This includes the players, like Travis Frederick just did by giving some love to the coaches for their in-game adjustments in the interview on dc.com yesterday.

Jerry's the wildcard with it all. He also toes the company line when it comes to the coach, but he's a guy who will make a change, too, if he thinks he needs to. I don't think he wants to fire Jason at all, but he would if he thought it was going to impact his business. Stopping the losing slide stops that, though. Beat the Giants, and beat the Raiders, and Jason's almost certainly safe for another season, at least.

It doesn't have to be as drastic as losing to the Giants. He should have been fired two years ago, but the barometer for this season should be winning a playoff game. Losing to the Giants all but means being eliminated, but how the season ends should determine his future.

Having said that, I'm fairly certain he'll be back next year, and we'll go as far as a healthy roster can take us, because the coach is completely irrelevant.

:lmao:

Defends the COY at all costs

Fires back to back super bowl winning coach in a drunken fit

That’s why he’s a hall of fame GM, eh?

Of course not.

You don't make decisions about coaches, or coaching philosophy, or players, or anybody based on the result of a single game unless you're an incompetent idiot. This should be obvious.
