Started what I thought was a harmless, lighthearted thread a week or two back. Made an innocent, offhanded remark, both in the title and my post, commenting how I thought a Minicamp photo of Barry Church hit me as him bearing a striking resemblance to Ray Lewis. Never saw you comment so I don't know if you saw it. Anyway, the thread became a total debacle by the time it died out.
Accusations of racism... "All blacks look alike to some [of us]" and "Offensive stuff like this must be stamped out" sorta stuff. The accusers were few, but committed. The two or three had a profound effect on the course of the thread. WoodysGirl and so many others saw it for what it was and did their best to stem the tide. The few wouldn't be dissuaded, until virtually told to tone it down/ knock it off near the very end.
So, again, I can only try to imagine what you've had to deal with, given all the years you've posted and moderated here. I've just begun taking slings and arrows... hell, I'm a neophyte, by comparison. LOL.
I even mentally winced when typing that I thought your friend, Scott, bore a strong resemblance to Doctor Richard Tesore... a Pavlovian response to that distinctly negative memory. But I decided, WTH, I never meant any harm before... don't mean any now... so I wrote what I thought.
Sucks to have to fight battles here over some of the most seemingly trivial of opinions given, turned into offenses chosen to be taken by others. Not saying their feelings are trivial... well, honest feelings expressed aren't... but a big deal made without looking to find common ground sure can be.
