Even most of the all time great coaches like Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Don Shula and Bill Walsh had expiration dates. Each of the aforementioned HOFers won multiple SBs yet either realized themselves (or with help in TL’s case) that their time with a team was up.

As Jason Garrett closes his 8th season as HC of the Cowboys, his teams have made the playoffs only 3 times including this year, yet going into this year’s playoffs, still has only one wild card round playoff win.

These playoffs should be an acid test of Garrett as a HC here. 100% of this roster are his players. He has been seated next to Emperor Jones for each draft since 2010. To use a Parcells quote, Garrett has “bought the groceries”. Now it’s time to cook or get out of the kitchen.

In other words, winning at least two playoff games, advancing this team to the NFC championship game, a place this team hasn’t been since Jan, 1996 should be the bottom line final exam for Garrett.

Why? Because playoff wins are the measuring stick of a winning organization. A “one and done” or even another wild card round win represents no progress in the last 23 seasons. To bring Garrett back after no progress would reveal this team to simply be a treadmill organization designed to make money, “be relevant” at season’s end but without any hardware to show for it. To me, that’s unacceptable.

In short, Jason Garrett’s milk carton will have an expired expiration date if he does not take this team further than it’s been since they played Green Bay for the NFC championship in Jan 1996. So long ago Jason Garrett was actually on the roster.

Garrett's picture should be on a milk carton!

Garrett definitely does not BUY THE GROCERIES here. Its not what he does here. Sadly that becomes an built in excuse for Jones to keep Garrett around.

JG has darn near fully heathy roster and will have a home playoff game.

If we go 1 and out the conversation has to be had...I’m a fan of Richard.

We’re not a winning organization any longer. This all goes back to your bar:)

Fans are just wanting a renewed hope with Jerry’s puppetry mgmt style.

Unless we expect Jerry to have some type of Absolution our hope is limited with His ways.

This is probably about as good as it gets.

Well I am too. I would love to win a SB this year. I’m just saying “it’s time”. Show me the money.

I have said it many times if Garrett were to get fired then I would shed no tears, he would have been given a good chance and failed. On the other hand as a fan I have no say in this and will continue to support the team and the coaches and hope they can achieve what we all want. The next HC the Cowboys hire I can promise you there will be those here who will not like him or think Jerry should have hired someone else If it where my call to make chances are I would have fired Garrett after the failure of 2015, however 2016 would see this team rebound with a 4th rd rookie QB and Garrett wins coach of the year. I do think Garrett job is still a question mark and these post season very well could determine his future with this team.

3 division titles in 8 years.

Not bad for a Dysfunctional organization with a 75 year old owner who can’t give up his childhood passion, a puppetry HC and a QB who probably wouldn’t be starting at any other playoff team.

This is our 21st Century Dallas Cowboys!!

I agreee mostly but think a wildcard win and a division loss would show something given how poor this team started out. Also, wining a playoff game, even the wc, can’t be under appreciated. We literally have 2 playoff wins in this century and a 3rd would be great even if just the wc...

Crappy owner, Crappy HC and Crappy QB yet NFC East Champions 2 out of 3 years with them. lol I can't help but say I hope this team can run the table and shut this place down!. lol
