Every team in the NFL thinks they improved after the draft

And most have. It's more about the degree of improvement.
Yep, even if you completely nailed it (not that there’s any way to determine that as of now), it’s mitigated by everyone else potentially getting better.

Can’t say I hate what they did over the weekend, and they finally seem to have a little self awareness as to where they are with this roster (Jerry’s comment about things being about the next few years), but as you and I keep saying to each other lol….that DT room ain’t gonna work out.

There’s a reason teams went in a little early from like 13-20, with another mini-run a little later on. Don’t care how much you weigh, you’re gonna get smacked around one v one if you don’t have the skills.

Yea, everyone single team thinks they nailed the draft every year….yet obviously they all don’t, not even close

Sure would be nice if our owner believed in free agency to combine with the draft…

Eagles have a ridiculous amount of talent right now….in my opinion we went backward
Thats an NFL business rule. Its how they keep their product they are trying to sell interessting.

"Team ___INSERT___ got better thru the draft."

Makes the hollows feel like they are watching something special. "Wow football gets better and more special every year!"

It's a profound phenomenon going around that some Cowboys fans see everything the Eagles draft as gold and what the Cowboys draft as inferior. What the hell, people?

Some teams actually did have a great draft. It's a shame when some fans see a division rival have a great draft, it renders those fans incapable of seeing the Cowboys had a great draft too.

I'm not predicting final wins, but I'll be surprised if the Cowboys have a winning record. They should have an easier schedule this year.
The team is easily better from last year though. You said they got worse. Unless you think Lewis is an all pro player I don't get it. Zack Martin was trash last year so him being gone is irrelevant. What other loss did we suffer? Rico?

The only way you don't 'go backwards' is if all your best players come back. Martin retired - replaced, Tank gone - replaced, CBs injured - possible help there, LBs injured - sured up, got a RB that fits our scheme in Blue, and some big body DTs to help stop the run.

Everybody thinks Jones sucks as a GM but somehow falls into the 'show me the shiny object' mentality. Do more in FA, but don't trade for players unless they are cheap all-pro guys. Dak sucks but we need to get him more WRs so he can throw more. It's just weird.

Single biggest thing we can do for Dak is get the running game back in order. To do that you have to open up holes and Martin had declined a lot. I actually thought Hoffman was doing better. We upgraded there. We signed a few RBs in FA that we could, drafted a guy who will fit our scheme really well in Blue, and got another more prototypical back. Have to think our running game is going to be better, and by extension that will open things up in the passing game.

We kept Osa who should fit our DL scheme well, got another baller pass rusher and got guys to help stop the run and shore up LB and CB.

What else do you want?
Great post. Far to many negative Nellie's on this site. It wouldn't matter to them if we had the first 10 picks in the 1st round, they would find a problem with each of them.

Regardless of those fans negative comments, those that know football know we improved significantly on the OL, on pass rush, in the secondary and most likely in the run game especially with homerun capability of Blue.

We still will deal with a free agent WR and probably a RB after 4 pm Monday when signing do not affect the compensation picks. I suspect Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen at WR and possibly Nick Chubb at RB. If so then we will be a far better team than the last 4 years.

so... you write this to what? just complain?

you say everyone says they got better, but not everyone gets a good grade amongst the "experts" (yeah I know - a relative term, but just saying) AND for the first time in a long time, the majority of fans of this team call this draft for what it is - a great draft.

I understand your complaint about our not getting those "super" free agents and being better about filling these holes with better talent, but again this is relative to what we consider better. They truly believe they got true talent in the free agents they picked up, but I am glad they didn't stop there. They weren't afraid to get quality OLinemen and DL to compete. To say this team went backward AFTER the draft - ehh I get your hurt by your judgement of our free agent pickups. In the end, we are fans and have no control over what this team does, and although I won't say we made it until we actually made it.

After 30 years, very few of us are gonna be too quick to bring out the anointing oil, but atleast try to enjoy the game. I mean what are we doing here... it is a game, if they make the superbowl you what? do they come to your door and hand you a check in gratitude for your honorable fanhood? I have been following the cowboys for about 45 years now and for first 42ish of them, I let this game make me mentally upset and I took every loss affect my real life, but now I just enjoy it whether they win 20 games or only 2.

Currently playing the world's smallest fiddle for y'all.

Who we draft or don't draft or sign or don't sign is all so low on my list of cares in this world it barely makes a blip.

Some folks are dealing with real world issues not what Billionaires draft Millionaires are doing.

At this stage it's just a temporary distraction to what I'm faced with, so excuse me if I don't get exercised over moving abitrary needles, or moving forward or backward.
The world's smallest fiddle playing the world's saddest song. :muttley:

It takes all kinds right? I mean obviously there are those here who feel better about themselves when they complain about everything else. I personally don’t get it but hey, they’re humans. Miserable humans at that. As you said, it’s a game. It’s entertainment. With all the crap going on in the US right now it’s wonderful to have football to take your mind off of it. I love everything about the Cowboys season win or lose. It’s an escape from the self inflicted chaos going on.

Agreed. I do believe we improved our trenches though. Time will tell about to what degree, but I do believe we improved both OL and DL. Both were direly needed.

We lost a hall of famer linemen….dont see how we got better
That hall of fame OLman used to be hall of fame good, but he wasn't that great last year. You can't always replace every loss with the best possible player, but I think we did a respectable job of replacing what used to be a hall of fame OG. Don't count us out just out of habit.
