Everyone giving Dalton credit. What about the defense?

Everyone here is arguing for dalton over Dak or vice versa.

Does anyone realize how much the defence has stepped up the past 3 weeks? We’ve had 10 takeaways in 3 weeks. The defence was the worst in the NFL when Dak was starting but we are all sitting here arguing about Dak vs Dalton? If Dak had this defence this season I have no doubt we would be sitting at 9-10 wins currently.

I’m not taking away from dalton he played a great game yesterday. Against a horrible philly team and made a pass that was picked that Dak would have got ripped on for attempting. But putting that aside. The real thing we should all be impressed with is how well the defence has been at taking away the ball and getting short fields for Dalton to work with.

Well I guess the opposing defenses not intercepting Dak’s passes and falling on his fumbles in scoring territory, giving the opposing offense short fields to work with, had nothing to do with our losses either..

Well it's not like our defense hasnt crapped the bed against bad teams. They have turned some kind of corner and may put up a fight against a decent team.

Oh I agree. But timely turnovers have helped our cause in a big way. Prior to that they couldn’t stop anyone from scoring and didn’t take the ball away at all. That’s the point I’m making.

Until new DTs are found in the off season this DEF will never be great. The narrative we beat 3 bad teams is incorrect. We beat 3 teams that are neither good or bad. The Eagles beat the Saints 2 weeks ago and the 49ers have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL and the Bengals have won 2 straight since we beat them.

We actually beat 3 form teams.

Mike Nolan deserves a lot of credit after all the criticism he has faced.

true, but that 49ers team beat the Cardinals.. the Eagles beat the Saints.. and the Bengals, well yeah they suck.

Any given Sunday! I want to host the Brady Bucs and send them home in the wild-card round. Nothing will make me feel better, I don't care about draft positioning anymore.

But Dak doesn't need a defense "he's the greatest player in the NFL!" <----that's NOT directed at you but another poster earlier said that on another thread but your point is well taken. The D has indeed had longer to come together now and Andy is benefitting. But I still think Dalton's ball placement and accuracy are night and day far, far superior to Dak's - we've seen some amazing passes with Dalton that Dak never could've hit on. His downfield reads are faster and better as well.

All of this is true:

Dalton played a good game yesterday and his accuracy was right on target.

The defense has stepped way up the last few games and contributed a lot to the wins.

The turnovers helped win those 3 games.

Dak had near zero help from the defense in the games he played this year.

I’m glad that Dalton looks good and think he’s a good QB but I still think Dak is better for this team and want him as the long term QB.

On the one hand they will handicap when we go against bad teams. On the other we don't get the same consideration against good teams.

I agree...the defense and special teams have played well.

Dak gets the space. But i bet you wanna still dump Zeke?
