Everyone is missing the point around supposed team flight-delay reports

It seems like there is a pizzing-contest going on right now between various media sources and team officials about the truth or fallacy in reports that team flights were often delayed due to players' tardiness.

WHO CARES IF THESE REPORTS ARE TRUE OR FALSE?

The point is, we have more un-named sources popping up from INSIDE the organization, chirping to the media - whether it's truth or lie - and slopping egg on the franchise’s face.

Furthermore, while team-officials are rebuffing the charge of tardy flights, they are not even coming out and saying that all other reports in that article are false: like that Romo is erratic in practice, or that T.O. runs the WR meetings and supplants coaches’ authority, etc.

I guess we should excuse all that because at least the plane took off on time!

The bottom line, and real problem, is that the organization has lost complete control of itself. And that fact that reports from un-named sources keep popping up, this is clear indication that NOTINMG has yet been done to address or correct it because the team can't even identify who these sources are.

No, I DO blame Jerry ultimately. There was one point made in that initial media article about team tardiness saying that Wade Phillips wanted to up the fine for player tardiness from the $100 level that Jerry set. And Jerry set it because, before Phillips, Bill Parcells had it set to $5,000. Ultimately Jerry Jones would not let Phillips up the fine.

Here's a perfect example where the coach wants to do something to help control player misconduct, but the meddling owner will not allow him. And this is just one thing we now know about; just imagine all the other things we don't know about where Jerry Jones won't allow his coaches to have ultimate authority for team discipline.

So if the main issue is that this is a team where the inmates are running the asylum, you simply can't blame the Warden when the Mayor is circumventing the Warden by creating the conditions that makes the Warden's authority irrelevant.

Many want to ultimately blame Phillips for this lack of discipline, but you can't when Jerry is circumventing his head coach in this regard. So then it IS Jerry Jones' fault, ultimately.

You make one really good point, regardless of what anyone thinks of the rest: The Cowboys, after all of these published stories about unrest, dissension, lack of discipline, etcetera, decide to draw the line in the sand when it comes to whether and why the team jet took off late. That's either some indication the other stories are accurate or it's evidence of a pretty disjointed and weak response to the press.

I could care less about unnamed sources quiet honestly. It causes really bad pub for the Cowboys. Bad Pub means bad press all offseason and the potential for slower ticket sales for Jerry World in 2009. Those are precisely the two things that would cause Jerry to consider making changes from the status quo and stop allowing the players to run the show.
