Everyone laughed and called some of us "haters"

yes there were, but the problem with the argument is that it assumes Tony makes all the same good plays Dak did, and none of the bad plays. It also assumes that Tony wouldn't have made any additional bad plays. I loved Romo, and in fact, I still have a 9 jersey at home (my new Zeke one just arrived) but to say with Tony we definitely would have won is silly in my view.

It's just an opinion of what would have happened. I wouldn't suggest any plays would be the same, so no, he wouldn't make the same good plays, same bad plays, etc. The running game would be different as well.

We said one thing.

When we run into a high scoring offense, and our defense doesnt hold...

Can Dak outscore the other team?

We said NO and were called haters, romo lovers, more worried about romo than the team, and a whole host of other things.

We went about OBJECTIVELY looking at the team, its performance capabilities, etc.

We merely said one thing, No, Dak wont be able to keep up.

Its not that any of us WANTED to be right. We all wish we werent. But we refused to be blinded by a team record, passing "stats", etc.

We didnt "hate" dak, we didnt put romo over dak. We objectively looked at each QB's body of work, the strengths they needed to possess to overcome running into a high powered offense, and concluded, that Dak probably didnt have what it would take. He didnt. Hopefully he will grow and will be able to do such and didnt already hit his ceiling. Time will tell.

Ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Who's we and who called you a hater for Dak can't keep up with a potent QB against our QB? Everyone in the NFL knows that!

Ridiculous is what you appear to suggest which is that no QB could have done better than Dak.

Nobody is talking about any other QB's. We are talking about starting Romo over Dak. History suggests that Romo would not have performed better than Dak did. Dak performed superbly against the Packers.

However, are you suggesting that Dak did not have struggles in this game and did not make any plays that negatively impacted the team?

No, but how often do you see any QB in this league..particularly Romo...have a game where they did not make any negative plays? I didn't see Dak struggle at all against Green Bay. Most of the time when we didn't score on a drive (which happens with any QB), it was due to his teammates screwing up by either dropping a pass or making a stupid penalty

Btw, the QBR is not a good stat. Never has been.

How can it be a 'bad stat' when QBR differential can predict the winner of a game nearly 80% of the time?

Does it have some holes to it? Sure. But, it's not a 'bad stat', it just doesn't jive with your pro-Romo agenda.

We lost this game because our pass defense is mediocre at best and it reared its ugly head. Romo has been a shaky performer in the postseason and in his career only had 1 season that was as good as Dak's rookie year. It is what it is.

Let's be honest, there is a lot of revising history here. OP wants to come here and pat himself on the back claiming he knew all along we wouldn't win in the postseason with Prescott. But at that time people were making their predictions and saying that, they thought that Prescott would scuffle in big games and cost with poor, rookie play.

It never crossed their mind that in the playoffs Prescott would play very well and they'd still lose largely due to defensive breakdowns.

So to come here now and claim I told you so is one large steaming pile of you know what.

There were a lot of people that predicted that we would never go to a SB with Romo. I don't give them any more credit than I give the OP and the others he listed in his post. These aren't exactly going bold, going out on a limb type predictions. This is dumb.

I know you've always had your anti-Romo bias, so we'll just agree to disagree. Especially about not seeing any struggle at all, and "particularly Romo" and what constitutes good QB play.

These are just a couple of the comments I made prior to the game that drew the ire of some here when it all made perfect sense. Nothing that makes sense or has any logic goes over well here if it doesn't favor the Cowboys.

. We have a better chance of winning a 27-21 game than a 33-38 game because we have a rookie QB. A high scoring shootout is going to favor a veteran QB with a lot of playoff experience who's thrown 40 TD's this season than a rookie QB starting their first playoff game that has 23 passing TD's. Although Dak has had a great season and has a bright future ahead of him, Rodgers gives the Packers an edge due to his elite passing skills and his playoff/championship experience.

This was to the FAN who argued that we would "throttle" the Packers and win with ease and who did nothing but insult my opinions.

You're going to be very disappointed if you're expecting us to "throttle" them. That's not happening this time around. If we win it's going to be a tight game that's going to have every Cowboys fan on the planet on pins and needles in the 4th quarter. If anyone gets "throttled" it will be us and our 26th ranked pass defense.

He caught up he just couldn't keep up because we had to outscore them. Didn't think we could win if both teams scored over 30 points because Rodgers always seems to get one last chance and can't be stopped.

I had been saying for a couple weeks, to beat Packers, Falcons and then the Patriots would probably take 40-50 points a game.

3 very high power, and high scoring capable teams in a row. If they thought they could just defense to a win, then coaches are dumber than i thought.

If it takes 40-50 points to win games you're not going anywhere in the playoffs. Most here talked about how we were 5th in points allowed and that we bend but don't break but I said heading into the game that defenses that bend usually break in the playoffs against an elite QB. The playoffs are DIFFERENT and any holes you were able to mask during the regular season are going to be exposed especially defensive holes vs a great QB. Had we been able to keep the game close throughout and not fall behind by 18 points, we could have kept pounding Zeke and allowed our OL to take over the game. Once we got down by 3 scores we had to start putting the ball up more and it became Dak vs Rodgers and Dak isn't going to win that battle at this stage in his career in a playoff game.

However he did hang in and help bring us back which made me more convinced even with a loss that he's going to be one of the great QBs in this league down the road. There was no quit or panic in him, he maintained his poise throughout the game and turned what could have been a debacle into a very exciting game that unfortunately didn't go our way. Our D got us in a deep hole early and even after climbing out of it we couldn't make a stop to give us one last chance with the ball. We're not that far away but we have to go all in on defense during the offseason because we'll never get past the Eli's, Rodgers and Matt Ryan's in the playoffs if we don't start getting serious about building a solid defense.

Go back in history and let me teams that needed to score 50pts a game in the playoffs. If you are needing that many, your defense is a completely farce. And maybe that's where you need to direct your blame. First 3 possessions for 21pts is pathetic. That is what set the tone, not the offense. Not their fault the worst penalty called in modern time killed their 2nd drive of the game. Not their fault the tackle of Witten in the endzone was not called. And they scored 31 with those calls going against them.

Maybe you can go root for Romo wherever he goes next. We all know you people wanted Dallas to secretly lose this game so you could make this thread. It's who you guys are. Romo fans 1st, Dallas fans last. Your agenda takes priority over the team. Pathetic.

I disagree with your assessment.

Dak wasn't the reason we lost. He played well, but was set back by a few circumstances that got the team behind 21-3.

GB up 7-3: BS Call on Butler that at the least takes away 3 points, possibly 7.
GB up 14-3: Williams dropped pass, then pressure given up by Tyron that prevented 3rd down after getting behind in downs.
GB up 14-3: BS hands to the face penalty on Mo, extends drive for GB, they score 7 points.
(at this point Dallas should have been down 14-6 at worse getting the ball back)
GB up 21-10: Witten gets tripped up on a questionable no call going into the endzone. Probably a TD if he doesn't get tripped.

All in all, I think Dak played well enough to get us to 21-20 at half... who knows the game may should have been 20-14 DAL at that point.

I don't mean to play the what-if game, but I'm trying to point out how Dak's performance wasn't poor any way. It was other circumstances that got us into the hole we were in, but he fought his way out of it.

After all, we lost on defense as time expired.

Ifs and buts....

Romo might have won. Romo might also have come out and thrown 3 picks. He's very mercurial.

We don't even know if Romo can even play a full game.

Dak played beyond all expectations for a rookie QB in his first big time game. He had incredible poise and showed any remaining doubters, and I haven't personally seen any of those here, that he has what it takes.

But.

Romo's experience would likely have been the difference. Does Romo spike that ball or run a play? Does Romo throw that interception? Does Romo throw all those balls into the endzone?

It's only speculation at this point but my opinion is that Romo has the experience to make some decisions on his own that make the difference.

As good as Dak played he made some mistakes and doesn't seem to be getting any flack at all. Romo plays the exact same game that Dak did with the same result and many here are blaming him instead of the coaches and the defense and the officials.

Thats because Dak is clutch like E-Lie :D

I'm with you. I was labeled a Hater too. I like Dak , Romo is my boy, and I love the Cowboys. It seems it's either Black or White in the zone. You have to love one QB and hate the other. No middle ground
