Everyone loves to hate the Cowboys

Embrace it. It's jealousy masquerading as hate.

Next time someone talks trash about your Cowboys, offer them a sincere apology. Something like, "I'm sorry that the 5-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys, America's Team, will forever be FAR more relevant than whatever inferior, crappy team YOU root for."

It's the same thing Yankees fans (27 championships) and Lakers fans (16 championships) deal with. Pretty good company to be in.

We can quantify things
  • Schramm made sure Dallas would be in the division with media centers on the East Coast: DC, Philadelphia, NYC (compare with the Texans division of Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Nashville.) Add to that East Coast fans, esp Philadelphia just hate more.
  • Dallas is known as white-collar - not a grungy rustbelt blue-collar town
  • Games on Thanksgiving Day - more coverage - more jealously
  • AFC fans contending (at least during the 1970's) the Cowboys are in an easier conference
  • The Dallas/Washington rivalry when George Allen made it into a jihad
  • Success in the Landry era and 90's promoted lots of other rivalaries
  • Schramm embracing NFL film's moniker America's Team
  • The hype and PR that includes the cheerleaders
  • Schramm was hated as egotistical, over-promoting the Cowboys. In the late 80's he said when they come back, he would make sure they hate him even more. Sort of got his wish as Jerry Jones catches that hate from opponents and fans alike.

For all the young people out there that never knew what Cowboys winning is like, let me educate you.

If we were to win the SB, every station will lead with us, all over yahoo, the media will not be able to get enough Cowboys talk. Just check all over sports internet, there's always something about the Cowboys in it. American media would practically blow up. It's pretty insane how much attention this team gets when they're good.

And half the players would have their own hour long show. Can you imagine the Jeremy Mincey Show? Sterling Moore Show? Now the Travis Frederick show would be really good. That guy is made for his own show.

Exactly right Clove - right now you can go on Yahoo's page and there are three "news" stories about the Cowboys. The next time we make it to a Super Bowl the media's collective head will explode.

I've been a fan for over 40 years and that fact is as true today as it was way back then.

I'd like to insert a "wow you're older than......" Joke but you are way too nice to me for that! :p

J/K.

You could have been a fan since the age of 5 & rocking the sexy older George Clooney look. :)

LOL! - yep. Ron Stone back in the 90's was going to get a show on a country western station if he hadn't been traded to the Giants and he was a backup offensive lineman.

Make no mistake - It's good to be a Cowboy in Dallas when the Cowboys are good (and keep an eye out for white houses).

It's kind of amazing considering that the Cowboys have been for the most part non-relevant for the past 15 years.

Just two quick examples of how silly the Cowboy hate is; Two New York based Sirius XM shows Opie & Jim Norton(Formerly Opie & Anthony) and Ron & Fez.

Opie and Ron are admitted Cowboy haters, so whenever the Boys happen to lose they will open the show with some Cowboys diatribe how they suck and blew the game. When our Boys win you won't hear a peep from them and they will sometime avoid football talk at all.

At my job there's quite a few Cowboys haters so it's the same way, I will usually chat about football regardless if they will or lose. After that Week 1 disaster everyone was so giddy and on about how Dallas fans need paper bags and Romo doesn't deserve a job, etc and etc.

Now that the Boys are on a 4 game win streak, guess what? Everyone is so quite and will avoid talking football at all costs. It's kind of cute.
