I'm getting so sick and tired of the coverage of things.

When a team wins, they are great, they lose? They are the worst team to ever play ever.

A player has a good game? He's great... Best player ever drafted... everything is perfect now! Has a bad game? Cut him now! Fire the coach!

EVERYTHING ISN'T DEFINITIVE!

That is all.

Unfortunately most people dont think this way. Heck, an opinion of a player can change on 1 play. Beasley fumbles once, cut him, hes terrible, "fumbler' yada yada yada. One play, one game should not define a player, for better or worse.

You are exactly right.

But there is a certain brainwashing that takes effect.

You here people literally quote out the news source, I use news source terminology lightly... Because it's more tabloid. But people will almost quote the popular word or words on something verbatim.

I actually laugh. Ask them , you don't believe everything they say on tv do you? Kind poke fun at them.
Then.,, it gets even worse when what they heard was wrong and I bring it up next time... "TOLD YA" lol

You are describing John Gruden's announcing philosophy now....

Every week, "X player is the best I ever seen at his position."
We have 17 weeks of the best players ever....LOL

Why are you so worked up over this. Frankly I appreciate the vapid simplicity of others.

I even envy it at times. Being nuanced is hard work.

It can also pay huge dividends by comparative advantage.

I understand where you're coming from. I often want to discuss a player based on watching and re-watching game footage, but it's rarely possible because to most that player either sucks or is great.

There are a small number of posters that might want to have a legit discussion about it, but the thread will get bogged down by people with agendas.

Because, Hitchens had a good game. Because he had a good game doesn't mean that we "nailed a 4th round pick" or "is the best thing since sliced bread" or anything. He had one good game and has flashed some plays in others.

It was like when we where on the winning streak and you where seeing reports about how "the process is working" and all this crap... no it's not. We won a few games... we are going to lose a few too.. does that mean it isn't when we do? No!

I just wish someone could say "god, Hitch looked good this weekend... could have something there." and leave it at that, because it is what it is.

Ok Hitch had a good game and has shown signs of good development and hopefully he will continue to put in the work and dedication he has thus far and continue to grow as a player. At 420,000 dollars this year I would say Dallas is getting more then their money's worth out of him. :)

Hitchens has had a SOLID season. He's had far more than one good game. Not to mention, NO ONE until this week had said anything about his play after people jumped the shark and called him a bust prior to him even playing a down in the regular season.

I am not sure its about "agendas" per se. Its more about the culture of the times we are in. What you did in the last 30 seconds is what defines you.

I can understand when FANS do this. I get annoyed when the PAID professionals do this. And the BEST run organizations do not do this. When you think of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Drew Brees...tell me when you ever heard their GM declare "that was the best game he has ever played"...that is just ridiculous to me. Our franchise QB really said a few weeks ago "Jason Witten might be the greatest Cowboy of all time"....I mean...I am loving this season...I like Romo...I like Witten....I begrudgingly will give Jerry his props from time to time....but my goodness...did these guys just start watching football the last 10 years?

That's the great thing about football. I don't think folks really believe the "best to worst" stuff, I think it just hits fans really hard when their team loses, particularly if they don't look good doing it, because there are only 16 games in the regular season. Every single game counts, so when a team gives one away, fans FREAK OUT. It's why Aaron Rodgers had to tell the Packer fan base to R-E-L-A-X when they're weren't playing well. Doesn't happen nearly as often in other sports because occasional losing streaks aren't as impactful and are largely expected.
